Akari's POV

The rays of the morning sun had descended into the land. As usual, I was the first to wake up and tell everybody to do their daily routine. Before that, I opened all the doors to let the early breeze in.

I walked around the corridors to head at (y/n)'s room. Holding the door, I silently slid it open to uncover a sleeping (y/n).

I sighed softly and approached her, "(Y/n)..."

"Don't... disturb. I'm workiiiiiing~" she rolled herself to the side. As a concerned and (sort of) a caring mother, I did what I had to do.

And that is to spill cold water to my adoptive child.

"GYAH!" she finally woke up all energised for the day. I smiled at her, "Good morning dear. Time for you to eat."

"W-why d-did you have t-to do t-t-that?" she shivered, hugging herself while water dripped down from her kimono.

"To wake you up," I said, "Now get up dear. You don't want to be late for work."

"O-ok..."

(Y/n)'s POV

Apparently, I was close to marrying my soulmate when all of a sudden I got bathed in cold water by my mother. I often experienced this kind of treatment whenever I don't wake up early. Whenever she does this it would always be on the times when I dreamt of something good.

I changed into a new set of clothes as I ate the last bits of food on the bowl. Me and my mother were the only ones awake and I was curious why she didn't wake the rest of my siblings.

"Dear, before you go I have something to give you," miss Akari broke the silence. She raised her right arm and pushed the sleeve of her kimono upwards then took a sai from underneath it.

"Have this..." she handed me the weapon as I stared at it with eyes wide as platters.

"But mother don't you use this to kill demons?" I asked her. This was the first time she lent me one of her valuable items. The sai was made of precious minerals and it was something no one should tamper.

She shook her head and planted a hand on my shoulder, "You might need it. Since I can't guard you anymore at night because I have to look out for the others."

I bowed at her, "Thank you! I promise I'll take care of this."

"No dear. I don't want you to take care of that. I want you to take care of yourself," her smile vanished and she displayed a look of worry.

"Don't worry mother, I will!" I grinned and wrapped my arms around her. It was time for me to go. My siblings had woken up and most of them were crying, including (s/n). I gave everyone a hug to comfort them before departing to the Takashi residence.

The two married couple were standing outside of their house. Their children clutched the hem of their kimono as they pleaded for them not to go.

Their father spoke to me "Mari, Ichiro, this is (y/n) (l/n). She's going to babysit you while we're gone."

I gave them my signature smile and a small wave. As I have noticed, Mari was a shy girl who would hide behind her father's back whenever a newcomer is present. Ichiro was somewhat the opposite of her. He had this strong facial expression that made him look brave in front of others.

"Please be kind to (y/n)-san, okay?" their mother gave the two children a good pat on the head. Her children nodded in understanding.

"Take care mother, father," Ichiro hugged them and Mari did the same.
