The Hogwarts Courtyard never looked worst, there was two sides, seemingly the good side, and seemingly the bad side. Voldemort was in the middle of it all, announcing his victory to what seemed like the world. On the "good side" stood Y/n and Draco, one with a pained expression, who was about to cry if he had to even say one word, the other had a concerned look, not to Voldemort, but to Draco. Y/n held his hand, making him turn towards her, his eyes no longer cold, but hurt, "You can go to them if you want, Draco." She said, pulling him into her chest,

"But that's the thing," he sniffed, "I don't want to." He pulled away from her, looking at his parents,

"Come forward and join us." Voldemort announced, holding his arms out, "Or die."

"Draco. Go." Y/n insisted, he gave her a face that said, "what about you?" She tried to smile to the best of abilities, "I'll be fine. Trust me." She kissed his forehead, messing his hair up playfully like they always do, "They're your parents. You're not choosing him, you're choosing them, and that's perfectly fine." He only nodded when she dropped her hands to her side, letting go of his in the process, he looked at her like he was about to leave his world behind,

"Draco... Come" Narcissa, whispered through the crowd, easily heard from the silence as everyone stared to see what the boy would do. Lucius held his hand out, signaling him to go to him. And with that, he walked away, leaving everyone who really cared for him fully throughout the years. He walked in the arms of Voldemort, an awkward hug was exchanged, and he made his way to his parents, Narcissa leading him away, whispering words of encouragement and gratitude.

It was Y/n's turn. Draco wasn't alone in his journey of being a Deatheater, Y/n was there too, serving loyally to Voldemort who trusted her almost like he trusted Snape, who laid dead. He stared at her, waiting for any movement, "Y/n. Time is running out." He was impatient, fidgeting with his stolen wand in his hands. Her face didn't change, deciding if she wanted to end up like Snape, she looked at Draco who came back to the front of the lines, he looked like he was waiting for her, but he knew she wouldn't budge,

"I'm staying right here, sir." She replied, mocking the last word she said, getting surprised looks from everyone around her and a pat on the back from George Weasley,

"I taught you better. All my tricks and time, wasted on you. I'm disappointed. But we shall not talk about that." Voldemort continued to invite people to step forward. His words hurt her, though it may have been from the wrong side she still took the words to heart. There came Neville who had a whole speech about death and bravery. Y/n didn't take her eyes off of Draco, though, she could care less about what happened to her, Draco was all that mattered. He looked so broken, she's never seen him like this, it broke her heart.

Chaos. More chaos. Harry turned out alive, running through the remains of the structures outside of the school, Voldemort missing every spell he casted. He looked around, his minions were leaving and his opponents were retreating into the protected castle. He looked at Y/n and smirked that evil smirk, she knew what he was about to attempt. Narcissa and Draco walked quickly along the ruined bridge, not looking back once, Lucius however looked back, a cowardly look on his face as he ran to his wife and son who he had dragged into this mess. Y/n ran towards the gate, her wand in her hands clutched tightly. The Dark Lord himself casted a curse, it wasn't unforgivable, thank the gods, but it was enough to be fatal, Y/n could tell from the color and aura of the light the spell gave off, she learnt that from Voldemort. She rummaged her brain for any spell that could stop his attack, nothing aggressive, but protective. She then thought of her lessons with him, curses, potions, spells, rules, protection... "Protego!" One of the only spells that could stop a curse this bad, but only if someone can manage to perform it perfectly, she never did, until now. The purple curse and its evil aura was repelled as quickly as it came, it even pushed Voldemort back by an inch it was so powerful. The Malfoys heard the electric noises coming their way, but all they saw was Y/n trying to protect them from it, clearly struggling. Draco looked at his mother, nodded, and ran to her, "Expulso!" Y/n sent a blue light hurdling towards Voldemort, who was distracted fighting off the two sides, it hit him, wasn't fatal however, it wasn't powerful enough, but it gave Draco enough time to pull Y/n aside to hide.

"Y/n." Draco breathed in and out quickly, adrenaline filling them both,

"You need to go, Draco. It's not safe." Y/n frowned, trying to get out of his grip to run after the others,

"Nor is it safe for you." He argued,

"I'm going inside, I have to help the others." She said, escaping his arms,

"I'm coming with you." Draco sighed,

"Good choice, dear." Y/n smiled, offering her hand to help him up.

They ran into Hogwarts and had each others backs until the end.
