au: where you can give someone your patronus, but only if the patronus agrees.

"Y/n?! Y/n, please..." Draco begged, in his arms was the love of his life, dying. The life from her eyes was withering away slowly but surely, the blood coming from her stomach kept coming like the drips of a crimson rain that never stops. Draco adjusted his grip on her, the hallways were clear, screaming came from downstairs, the battle not stopping even for her. She smiled that lovely smile as she tightened her grip on her wand, waving it in a circular motion, a silver light covering the room. Draco looked around the room until a blue light took shape, he squinted, trying to figure it out. The light made its way to Y/n, a wolf, it put its head on hers, like they were communicating telepathically,

"Hello, sweetheart." She sighed at the patronus and looked at Draco, "Draco. Take care of him for me?" She knew he couldn't cast a full patronus, and that broke his and her heart, so now she's willing to give hers to him. He sniffed and nodded, there she smiled again and waved her wand, the wolf looked at his former practitioner, not leaving her side, "Be patient with him, I love him." Draco overheard that, his eyes filled with tears. The wolf nodded, agreeing to her final request. She waved her wand once more, the silver light coming from her heart went to his, the wolf scanned Draco and followed the light.

Her arms hurt, she dropped her wand to the floor and looked at Draco, "Hey, now you have a part of me." She managed to snicker,

"I don't-- I don't want you gone." Draco replied, moving her hair out of her face,

"I'll always be here for you." The life she once had was gone, her eyes closed, with her last breath she said, "I love you, Draco. Always." Draco sobbed, yelled, and just cried while he hugged her tight, never letting her go, ever.

Years later...

"Dad! Dad!" Scorpius ran to his father who was sitting in their backyard, looking into the distance. He smiled and picked him up,

"Yes, my son?" Scorpius took Draco's wand out of his pocket and waved it around,

"Could you do that magic thingy again, please???" He just smiled at the tiny him who was trying to climb down from him legs, getting ready to chase around the spell,

"Expecto Patronum." The blue light came out of the wand, circling the child as it took its form,

"Father, how did you get him?" Scorpius asked, genuinely interested,

"I didn't have him at first, son. But a lovely someone gave him to me, she was the most astonishing person I've ever met. Now go on, the wolf's waiting for you." Draco smiled, looking at the patronus who seemed to nod at him. He looked at the sky once more, letting a tear escape, never forgetting that moment they last shared.
