(^^Donovans House)
"Donny, come on." Mali moaned as I hesitantly followed him away from the woods. The wolves had stopped howling only moments ago, the she-wolf's coming out loud and clear from nearby.

I must have been so close to her until Mali showed up. Her deep brown eyes appeared in my mind. They are the most beautiful things I have ever seen. So alluring and calming. It kind of reminds me of my other best friend, Arlee, she had eyes identical to she-wolf's.

Mali pointedly coughed, snapping me out of my trance.
"Would you please stop day-dreaming about your wolf." Mali scolded, his eyebrows quirked.

"She's not 'my' wolf." I spat back, not meaning for it to come out as defensive. Mali rolled his eyes as we came out of the forest.

My house sat close to the woods, the lights inside turned on. The white, crusty paint on the outside walls were slowly peeling and the tin room looked a million years old. It might be old, but it was the only home I knew.

As we made our way inside, I left my dads rifle by the back door and took out my pocket knife I always take with me in the woods. Even though I take a gun in with me I never use it, never will. It's more just for show, an excuse other than wolf watching.

Quietly, Mali and I creeped down the hall, filled with photos of when I was younger with my family, to my small room.
"Are your parents home?" Mali asked, looking back the way we came to the other side of the house where my dad and step mum slept.

I shook my head.
"Nar, they haven't been coming home until late most nights." I replied pushing open my bedroom door. "Only Harry is home, and he'll be stuck in a video game by now."

And as if he had heard us speak, Harry swore at his computer from the room next to mine. Harry is my older stepbrother who is still living with our parents even though he is 22.

Mali pushed pass me and plonked down on my bed. He looked around my room, at the floating book shelves that held a trophy for a spelling bee I won back when I was 13, a few books and photos of my friends and I. The one I had pushed up to the front was the one of just me and my childhood crush ,Arlee.

She had stayed at my house for a night, just her and me (usually it was our whole friend group that would stay the night), she had said something about family drama and slumped on the door frame, her eyes watering.

I had to carry her into my room because she had basically fell asleep on the my shoulder when I hugged her, secretly soaking up her smokey scent. We had binged watched movies the whole night until we couldn't keep our eyes open.

During the night Arlee had snuck up behind me and wiped her phone out, spamming the photo button until she got the perfect one. One of me with the dumbest face and her with all her beauty. The photo always warmed my heart.

"Sooooo..." Mail started, bring me back from my mind. "I asked my parents if I could stay the night-"
"Asked?" I accused with a smirk
"Ok well, I told them I was staying over here"

We talked for a while about our crappy teachers this year and the last few. Then I heard Mali's phone buzz in his pocket, he pulled it out and froze.
"I got a message from Zara." He whispered, looking up from his phone with a confused face

"Your ex?" I questioned and his eyes said yes.
"It says that she is sorry for breaking up with me and that she wants to get back together!?" He read out-loud. "What do I say?"

"What ever your first reaction was after reading it." I advised, Zara was a girly girl and wanted everyone to feel sorry for her. Once she had came to class and went on and on and on about her tiny yappy dog that got run over last night. All her friends were all over her like flys on dog poo. If I was her dog I would be happy I was dead.

"If I were you bro, I'd tell her to shove it up her ass and to find some other puppet." I said looking out my window. There was a flash of white then back to darkness. I turned back to Mali. I had never had a girlfriend, though I have liked Arlee for as long as I've known her. Her eyes are never ending and her firery hair like a beacon on my head.

I know I shouldn't like her because she thinks of me as a brother, a shoulder to lean on when knocked down, which is barely ever. But I can't keep her out of my head. On a good day I would think of her almost 10 times an hour. Mali knee I liked her and I knew he liked her closest friend, Lea.

I got jealous of her sometimes when Arlee would wrap her arms around her and laugh her heart out. A heart I just wished I could get my hands on.

"I don't even know why I dated Zara to start off with, maybe I did it to get a reaction out of Lea?" Mail started looking away from his phone at one of the photos on my shelf that Lea was in.

"Then don't text back, just leave it." I said and fished his phone from him and put it on my messy desk. He smiled and nodded, his eyes leaving the photo and meeting mine.

"Enough about girls, let's play a video game or something." Mali laughed and I joined in as I set up the x-box and small tv in the corner of my room.

Next week was the last week of school for the year until the Christmas holidays. Arlee and Lea were planning a catch up in the cabins on the mountains in the ski resort. Everyone was excited to hear the plan.

One day I would take Arlee and myself to a cabin, far away from here. Someplace where we can be alone, maybe even a small cabin with one bed? I smiled at the thought as Mali and I started playing the game, this Christmas holidays was going to be great.
