In the light of Destruction

Chapter 3:

They sit under a large tree, listening to the birds chirping in the distance. When the sun slowly starts to set, Alex and Bria both say their goodbyes and part their separate ways. With her wicker basket in one hand and paint splattered canvas in the other, Bria heads back towards her house. She takes a shortcut through an alley that lays behind the market. Bria originally wanted a picture of the park. The trees with their different colored leaves, and birds flying in the cloudy sky, the painting still turned out to be a beautiful, with the help of Alex of course.

When Bria finally reaches her house  she notices that the tear that was once in the loose screen door is now replaced with several layers of tape, so she assumes that her mother must of tried to repair the loose screen door.  Bria sets her basket on the kitchen counter and then starts to put all of the bought items in their place. Once she is finished she takes her painted canvas and makes her way up the stairs and into her bedroom. Her room is quite small but she likes it. The walls are painted a cream color with many different colorful paintings scattered on them. Bria walks over to the bare wall that hangs over her bed. She takes the painting and hangs it on the small hook and adjust it until it is perfectly straight. She then takes her shoes off and places them on the rack in her closet, and change into shorts and a tank top. The window is cracked slightly so the smell roses from her mother's garden below her room fills the air. Bria sits by the window and watches the sun sink below the earth's surface. She sits there in silence and listens to wind blowing through the leaves and a dog's bark in the distance. The room grows darker and darker and Bria slowly sinks into her soft cozy bed, and falls into a deep sleep.

In her dream Bria is playing jump rope with two girls that look about seven. They are in the park surrounded by kids running around, swinging  on the metal swing set and climbing on the jungle gym. Some stop to watch them play. Bria and one of the younger girls start to rotate the rope and the other  young girl starts to jump over the rope. On her fifth jump she trips and falls onto her hands and knees. Everything started to happen in slow motion. The park grows quiet and Bria runs to her to help the girl up, but she screams at Bria and bites her hand. The young girl stares at Bria as if she just tried to attack her, and Bria quickly pulls her hand away to examine the bit mark. The young girl is still crouched on the ground so Bria insists on helping her up, but as Bria starts to help the girl up she starts sinks deeper and deeper into the pavement. The other young girl is now crouched on the ground and looks up at Bria. As she goes to say something her face morphs into something else, a boy. The young girl is now a boy.  Bria turns around to see if any of the children that were playing in the park had seen this sudden change, but there are no children around, only Bria and this boy. Bria crouches down to the same level as the boy, but he is still staring at the ground.

" A-Are you okay?" Bria ask, putting her hand on his shoulder.

The boy whispers something under his breath. Bria crawls closer trying to understand the unknown words.The boy then looks up and stares into Brias eyes, leaving chills run through her body. Suddenly the boy leaps forward and tackles Bria to the ground. Causing her head to hit the ground and her vision goes blurry. She tries to keep her vision focused on the boy's face, but he keep swaying his head back and forth. Brias vision stays blurry and her head throbs.

"I told you not to do it!" He breathed as he pins Bria to the ground. The boy's voice is soft and scratchy, like he spent the last hour screaming.

"But I don't know you!" Bria snaps back.

His faces twists in disgust. He then he whispers again, " I will get you for this!"

"I didn't do anything!"  Bria exclaims, struggling to escape.

"You know what you did! Look at my face!"
