As usual, I had set my alarm for 6am on my white iPhone 5S and Dark Horse by Katy Perry blasted threw the speakers LOUDLY!
"VALENTINE! TURN THAT DOWN THIS INSTANT!" My already waken mother yelled. I assumed she was still in bed. "I wish I could be her today, a day off work, a lie in..." I think to myself
"Mum I have a really sore head, I think I need a day off school" I shouted from my pink coloured room.
"Well no wonder you have a sore head! That bloody Katy Perry song nearly burst your eardrums! And you're not getting a day off school, I can tell you're lying even when I'm not looking at you" My mum is psychic I swear.Eventually, I got up and put on my awful school uniform which consisted of a plain blue shirt and a black skirt. I straightened my hair and put on my Dove deodorant. I added a touch of lip gloss and light mascara to my lips and eyelashes. After I finished my daily routine in the bathroom, I travelled down the stairs to the wonderful land of food (the kitchen) and began to eat my glorious "Lucky Charms" cereal. "The creators of this cereal are geniuses!" I thought to myself.
Once it was time to head to school, I grabbed my pink checkered backpack and left the house. I presumed my mum was back asleep as she didn't call down to me to say goodbye. "bye mum" I whispered to myself. I got out my phone and began to text Asa (he's my best friend, we've been friends since we were very little):
Asa😊
Hi Ace, meet me by lockers this morning, need you to check my Maths homework for me😉
It's been 3 minutes. He didn't text back. He almost always texted back instantly. Something MUST be wrong...I got to school and Asa was by our lockers (his locker was next to mine) and he was looking down at the floor with his hands pressed against the locker door. I began to get slightly worried. Normally, he's all cheerful and smiling. But I wasn't so sure anymore. As I began to walk closer to him, he looked up at me coming through the door but then quickly faced the floor again.
"Asa? Has something happened?"
There was a long pause...
"Asa. Look at me."He had his eyes closed and I couldn't really see his face but he lifted his head ever so slowly and looked me in the eyes...
He had a black eye, a bruised nose and a lumpy kind of bruise on his left cheek with several scratches on his small chin. He had tears in his eyes."Oh my god Asa, who did this to you?!" He let out a small cry and turned his back to the locker and slid his back down it so he was sitting on the floor. I sat down with him.
"Ace, tell me who did this to you, you know how fierce I can be when it comes to people messing with my pals" Asa made eye contact with me, smiles, but it fades and says:
"It was Brandon and his big group of mates...they just...came up and surrounded me while I was walking to school and...and..."
"Asa, it's okay, you're safe now"
"And...one of them had a knife..." My eyes opened wider than usual and I gasped in horror "They said 'we're all sick of you Ass-Ah, you're such a goody two shoes! Always getting answers right in classes, it's time you get taught a lesson' or something like that"He let out a sob "I got out in time before they basically killed me! I can't help it if I'm clever or teachers pet or whatever they think I am" I patted him on the back and kept saying 'I know' over and over again.
The school bell rang and nearly deafened us. I picked Asa up and onto his feet and was about take him to the medical room so he could get seen to but when we turned the corner we seen Brandon with two of his friends. They looked directly at us and gave us an evil smirk. They began walking towards us.
Quickly, me and Asa turned the other way and we ran out the school doors and behind the bike sheds...
