Tony's POV
"Look, it was bad idea in the first place," I apologized quickly. "I completely regret it."
"Sure thing," Cap snorted.
"Seriously! It's not my fault they AWOL, anyways," I crossed my arms. Stupid Steve! Thinking this is my fault, which it isn't.
Right?
Fury sighed like this was all too much trouble. Probably was. "All I ask of you is to catch one. Only one. Preferably one they won't resist rescuing."
Leo's POV
"Shut up, Valdez," Percy challenged, shaking the dice in his cupped hands. "I can afford more than you, anyways."
We were playing Monopoly. Most of us were already losing to Annabeth. Percy rolled the dice, coming up with a 4 and a 3. He moved his pen-lid marker 7 squares down. Onto my territory.
"400, please," I grinned and held out my palm. Percy grumbled and counted it out.
Annabeth took the dice as I felt my phone buzz in my pocket.
"Uh, excuse me," I said, slipping my phone out of my pocket.
I ducked into the kitchen to take the call.
"Leo!" A familiar voice said on the other side. "It's about time I heard from you!"
"Hey, Sunshine," I smiled. "How's life?""Oh, the usual. I can't believe some of the things that have changed!" Calypso's voice dropped. "I miss you, though."
"I know," I said, and my smile became sad. "I do too."
Natasha's POV
I waited outside of the teenagers apartment. From my perch on the roof top of the building opposite of it, I could see them through the window, laughing and having good time as they played something - Monopoly, I think.
Right on cue, Leo Valdez got up and left the table. He left from where I could see him, but I could hear him.
"Hey Sunshine, how's life?"
Tony's new trick worked. He could hack into whatever he wanted, and in this case, Leo Valdez's phone.
"I miss you, though," said a girl's voice.
"I know," Valdez's voice was soft. "I do too."
The call ended, but I didn't see him go back to the table. He was still in the other room. I wondered why I could here them when Tony have me the answer:
"He's not on the server anymore. I can't get into it."
"Great," I muttered, ducking as the blonde boy glanced over in my direction. "Last thing we need now."
Leo's POV
"I hope this'll be over soon enough," I told Calypso. "I'll be back then."
"It's not fair," Calypso said, her voice cracking. "How come Will got to go?"
"Nico needed medical attention. Also, you barely know what a computer is," I chuckled a bit. "Jason and Percy like the way Nico and Will treat each other. "
Calypso laughed. It was good to hear it. "I... I should go. It's late."
"Ok. Talk later, Sunshine?"
"Of course. Bye, Leo."
"Bye."
I sighed as she hung up. For a moment I just stood there, looking at her picture on my phone. Then my ADHD kicked in, and returned to my friends. They were cleaning up the game.
"Sorry," Jason grinned sheepishly. "We finished without you. Annabeth won."
"Figures. I'm uh... going for a walk."
Jason nodded, understanding. "Take your time."
I smiled appreciatively and slipped out of the apartment. I walked down the road. Even at this time of night, New York was bustling. Taxis and cars trailed by and lights in windows flickered on and off.
Usually, a demigod alone at night with a bunch more demigods would attract a lot of unwanted attention, but our apartment was fairly close to the Empire State Building - and Olympus.
I rounded a corner and was surprised to find the road deserted. No cars whizzed down the patched pavement, no pedestrian strolled down ahead of me.
The road was empty.
Ok, I thought, something's up.
I considered summoning a bit of fire, then thought against it. Instead, I pulled out one of my favourite toys from my tool belt.
A figure (obviously a woman) stepped out of the shadows in front of me and tried to seize me. I backed up swiftly, holding up the item in my hand for the person to see.
"Hold up, lady. You don't want me pulling the pin in this thing."
Natasha's POV
"Hold up, lady. You don't want me pulling the pin in this thing."
I studied the thing in his hand - clearly a grenade.
"A simple grenade won't bother me," I said cockily.
"Ah, well, this isn't a simple grenade, is it? Why don't I pull the pin and we'll find out," his opposite hand began to move toward the pin. I made my move, launching myself toward him and grenade in his hand just when he pulled pin.
BOOM! The smell of buttery popcorn filled the air as kernals popped mid air and I was thrown back.
"Enjoy the show!" Valdez called mockingly. He got to his feet and ran off. I followed, careful that he didn't lobb anymore popcorn bombs at me.
I suppressed a laugh. Popcorn bombs.
Valdez was almost to his apartment when I caught him. The Grace boy was right in front of us.
"Leo!" He called, startled.
I knocked out the teenager with a well-aimed jab and ran off.
Leo's POV
Sometimes, I hate sleeping. Honestly, how does Nico stand sleeping all the time? Isn't he bother by the stupid visions half-bloods get?
So anyways, was knocked unconscious. Not fun. Especially for a half-blood, cause we get weird dreams.
Tonight's weren't a exception.
I was standing on a hill overlooking a peaceful valley. Night had Watchtowers peered over an assortment of classic Roman building. Various temples crowned another hill, and a sleepy little town also built in the Roman style was nestled in by a steadily flowing river. I recognized the place: Camp Jupiter and New Rome. Frank and Hazel had showed Calypso and I around.
Ten balls of fire lit the sky.
Five fell to the Roman camp, igniting a firestorm, scattering panicked demigods. The remaining five annihilated New Rome.
A army of monster marched into the war games battlefield. The remaining troops gathered to form what was left of the legion and charged into battle with practiced precision.
They over powered in a matter of minutes. The monsters marched onto temple hill and reduced the temples to rubble.
No sign that anyone was alive from New Rome. Satisfied, he monsters scoured the flaming ruins, snatching crispy charred demigods for snacks.
I watched in horror.
A voice yelled: "Wake up!"
