In this AU, you only see color when you and your soulmate touch for the first time.

Y/N L/N had almost given up hope. Her world had been grey for 18 years now. Most of her friends had found their soulmate already. Most people found their soulmate in high school. Well, they just graduated and here she was, working at a cafe, alone. "Hey, dude!" A male voice shouts. Our protagonist turns, to see her best friend, Alfred. "How's your search for love going?" The blonde asks.

"Alfred, if I had found the one, you would be the first to know." The H/C haired female replied, sarcastically. "Ok, I'm taking you to one of those soulmate finder meetings tonight!" Alfred exclaimed. "You know it's probably not gonna work." The girl stated. "Yeah, but it might!" The annoying blonde persisted. "Fine. I'll try it." Y/N gave in.

~Time skip~

At the gathering, People have 3 minutes to interact with another person in the room. First, you touch hands with your new partner to see if they are the one. You take the rest of the 3 minutes to get to know each other either way. A buzzer sounds, and you rotate partners. You usually don't get to interact with all the people though.

When Y/N arrived, Alfred dropped her off. "Text me when it's over, dude! Good luck!" Alfred yelled and drove away. The girl went into the building and looked around. "Hello! Are you here for the soulate thing?" She heard a soft voice ask. She looked around and saw a slightly taller male with blonde hair, glasses, and purple eyes. "O-oh! Yeah, I am." She answered him. "Ok, just sit at one of those long tables over there." He pointed to a large area lined with tables where people were sitting. "Thank you, sir!" The girl said.

You go over and sit at a table, across from an average height boy with dyed red hair and blue/grey eyes. (meet author-kun!) "Hi, I'm Y/N" You introduce yourself. "Oh! I'm Lucifer, nice to meet you!" He introduced himself cheerily, as he held out his hand for you to shake. You hesitate for a moment, hold your breath, and take his hand, shaking it quickly. Your world stays grey though.

You let out a sigh. "Heh, am I that terrible already?" He joked. "No, Im just nervous. 18 years old and no soulmate. I'm in between giving up hope and hoping its everyone I meet." He let out a dry laugh. "Honestly? Same. I was kind of hoping it wasn't you though. I'm gay." The blue eyed boy said. The buzzer sounded, interrupting their conversation.

"Well, it was nice talking to you, Y/N." He said, getting up and moving to a different space, across from a tall albino male. They shook hands, and they both gasped, as they presumably saw color for the first time. Y/N sighed as another person sat in front of her.

~Time Skip~

After a few more failed attempts, she caught sight of a tall male with a large nose. SHe felt a pang in her chest as she realized, 'I have to get to him!' She thought to herself. She paid no attention to her current match, when the buzzer sounded again, she got up and started moving towards him. An announcer came up and said "Everyone, that's it for this gathering, we'll have another one at the same time, next week." Y/N cursed herself as she looked tho where the mysterious stranger was, but he was gone!

She went outside of the building, did another quick scan of the crowd, and after not finding him, she sighed and texted Alfred. He quickly came by and picked her up. "Did you find your soulmate yet?" He asked. "No, but there was this one guy I saw from across the room, and when I saw him, I felt something in my chest, like my body was telling me that he was the one! I couldn't talk to him because it ended before I could." She ranted for a second. "Sounds like you might have found him, Y/N!" Alfred exclaimed.

"Yeah, I think so, but I'll probably never see him again." Y/N replied, sadly. "Well, there's another meeting next week, right?" Alfred asked. "Yeah! I might see him there!" Y/N said, enthusiasm back in her voice. "Well, I'll take you again next week." The blond offered. "Thank you!!" Y/N accepted with excitement.

~The next day~

The next day at the cafe, Y/N couldn't stop thinking about that man she saw. "Hey, dude. Thinking about your prince charming? What does he even look like?" Alfred inquired. "Well, he's tall, has silver hair, purple eyes, large nose, and an intimidating aura." She described her current crush with as much accuracy as possible. "Ooh, sounds hot." Alfred teased. "Shut up, you found your soulmate already." Y/N snarkily replied. "Oh, come on. Arthur doesn't have to know." The blue eyed hero complained.

Suddenly, the bell signaling someone entered rang. "Alf, go get it." Y/N said. He left and in a minute, he came back, gave Y/N the person's order, and whispered, "You're gonna want to see who that is, dude." Y/N looked and saw the man, sitting there, waiting for his order. "OH FUCK" Y/N whisper-yelled. "How about you make his order, and hand it to him in a way that his hand touches yours, and you see if he's the one! Also, his name's Ivan for when you call him up." Alfred suggested.

"Alfred, for once, you have a good idea, thank you." She prepared the man's order and came out to the counter. "Ivan?" She asked. 'Ivan' looked up and they locked eyes. Y/N felt her heart leap and he walked up to take his cup. As planned, their hands touched, and color started seeping into both of their worlds. "Woah..." They both looked around to experience their new world, their eyes met. "Hi!" Y/N managed to squeak out. "Hello." He replied. "God you have a hot voice." Y/N said to him. "Oh, sorry! I didn't mean to say that!" She apologised quickly.

"It's okay, you're cute, by the way." Ivan replied, slightly chuckling. He took his drink and asked, "When does your shift end?" Alfred came up behind Y/N. "It can end now." He said. "Alfred, but-" "But nothing! You found your soulmate. Go get to know each other!" He interrupted. Y/N took off her cafe apron, hung it up, and sat at a table with Ivan.

"I'm Y/N" You introduce yourself, tucking a strand of H/C hair behind her ear. He takes your hand from across the table. "I'm looking forward to getting to know you, Y/N." Ivan said.
