I glance over from my spot at the desk, and see him sitting across the room on the couch. His long legs stretched out in front of him, eyes focused on the book in front of him, looking completely at ease. I turn my focus back on the paper in front of me and let out a sigh. Two pages to go. Stupid essays. Suddenly a warm hand rests on my shoulder and I look up at him, his warm brown eyes staring back at me.
"You okay, Lex?" He asks as he leans his hip against the desk. I shrug and run my fingers through my short hair, dropping the pencil to the paper.
"Can I just send in the three pages and pretend it's five? Cause that'd be great." He gives me a half smile and leans down, kissing me. "Or forget the paper and just do that." I say leaning closer to him.
"I'd be a terrible professor to distract you from your homework, maybe I should go back to that book." He tells me, taking a step back.
I roll my eyes at him pushing back from the desk and stand up. "Levi, you aren't even my professor. You're my husband, I think a bit of distraction is okay." I stretch up putting my hand on his face turning him towards me. His mouth meets mine as his arms go around my waist.
Suddenly there's a knock on the office door and Levi, groans lightly pulling back. "You think they'll go away if we ignore them?" He asks quietly as he brushes his lips against mine.
I kiss him, before moving back to the desk, "Answer the door Levi, some people still have class and may have a question." I stack my papers together before sticking them in my bag, "I should head home anyway, I have to at least pretend to care about this paper and get it done."
He stares at me for a moment before turning and moving to the door just as the knocking starts up again. He opens it and reveals a tall girl with curly dark hair standing on the other side, a smile on her pretty face. "Jenny, what can I help you with?" Levi asks, his voice flat and the slightest bit annoyed. Her face tightens as she sees me behind him, and I paste on a small smile.
"I'm just finishing up, thank you for your help Levi." I move past him and stepping into the hallway past the girl in the hallway.
"Alexika, I'll see you soon. Have a good afternoon." He says a glint in his eye as he smiles at me. "I love you."
I raise a brow at him and shrug my bag up higher on my shoulder. "Text me when you finish up so I know when to put dinner on. Love you," I say and look at the girl who is looking between us a scowl on her face. "What didn't realize he was married, or didn't care?" I ask before walking down the hallway.
Twenty minutes later, just as I open the front door to our apartment I feel my phone buzz in my pocket. I step inside pushing the door closed behind me and click the lock into place. I take my phone out and shake my head at the text on the screen. A message from Levi's department head to the two of us.
Levis boss:
Why did I just have a young lady storm into my office about the unfairness of the and I quote "whiny snob get to be married to a professor when I tried to kiss one she gets suspended?"
Levi
Because she has issues and thinks all of the male species wants to be her special friend
I roll my eyes at the response and set my phone on the counter, after reading the separate text from Levi letting me know he's on his way home. I pull the chicken I had marinating during the day out of the fridge and put it in a baking dish, and pull out a bag of fresh green beans setting them on the counter to add later. I watch as the numbers tick up on the oven slowly creeping towards the temperature. I hear the sound of the key unlocking the door and look over my shoulder watching as Levi walks in the door and tosses his bag carelessly onto the couch. He moves towards me with deliberate steps, stopping just next to me. I meet his gaze and smile. "I see you survived the oh so lovely meeting."
He groans and leans down kissing me, just as the oven beeps signalling it hit the temperature. Levi steps back shaking his head and moves back for me to stick the chicken into the waiting oven. "Well Lex, I couldn't careless what she has to say. You're the only one I want forever. I love you." His lips brush my temple as I lean towards him.
Turning to his face I press my lips to his, before whispering, "And I love you. Professor Coopers."
