Dustin closes his eyes as he throws back another shot, the liquid burning on its way down.  He opens his eyes and yells as he throws the glass against the wall across the room watching as it shatters and the fragments of glass fall to the floor.  Angry he reaches for the bottle sitting on the table and takes a large gulp of the whisky the strong taste lingering in his mouth as he feels his body shaking.

He shoves back from his seat, nearly tipping the chair as he makes his way towards the bedroom he once shared with his wife, Hannah.  Shoving open the door he kicks off his jeans and yanking his shirt over his head as he falls onto the bed trying to recall the feeling of his wife in his arms.  His body shakes as the pain tears through him once again, at the sight of her picture on his bedside table.  He reaches out pulling it to him, feeling hot tears run down his face he stares at the picture, her dark hair cascading over her shoulder, and the bright smile that always seemed to be on her face staring back at him.  "I failed honey.  At everything.  I broke every damn promise."  He says under his breath as he rests the picture next to his head,  "I lost you!  I lost everything!"  He shouts as he's met with silence, her voice never going to fill his ears again.

Sometime later, Dustin's eyes peel open only to clench shut at the brightness of the light streaming in through the window beside the desk, where Hannah used to sit, grading papers.  He shoves himself off the bed, and shuffles to the bathroom catching sight of himself in the mirror.  His once youthful looking face, has aged significantly in the last six months since the death of his wife.  He no longer wears the happiness of love on his face, it all having died with her.  He grabs the half-full bottle of Jack sitting by the sink and takes a long drink, wishing the drink would wash away the pain.  In the distance he hears the sound of a phone ringing, just like it has nearly everyday for the last four months.  He ignores it just like every other day as he slwly pulls on clothes and shoves his feet into a muddy pair of boots, not caring that a mess of boot prints are left behind him.

Passing the kitchen Dustin grabs another bottle and shoves his way out the door and stops in front of the old beaten up truck that he used to drive Hannah around in.  He peels out of the driveway not stopping until he arrives in front of the family plot.  He moves to the all familiar gravestone and falls to his knees, resting his head against the cool stone.  "You deserve better darlin' but I can't bring myself to find anything else.  You were all I had in this world.  I shoulda brought you flowers but I'm a fool."  He leans his head back, pouring the luke-warm alcohol down his throat and sighs.  "I wanna see you again darlin' and I only know one way how."
