IT TOOK HER A LONG TIME, BUT SHE FINALLY REALIZED SOMETHING. She was wasting her own time following Kenma around. Again, so helplessly devoted to guy that can't keep a good sleep schedule. Then again, she couldn't either.

There were so many things that could have happened if she didn't stick onto Kenma. You know, complete that non existent bucket list! Or actually start one too! She already knows how things will end up, yet she can't find the strength to confront it up front. These negative thoughts always surround her, creeping in and out without permission worrying the crap out of her.

She sighed to herself, head lifting up to meet the new path in front of her as she opened the doors to the gym.

Akaashi Keiji walked into the gym to see Fukurodani's volleyball team, and he will admit he's completely impressed. You could hear all of the balls bouncing all the way from the entrance. Yes, it was surprisingly that loud. Fukurodoni had given him a scholarship a while ago, though he didn't plan on visiting the school till now. He played setter in middle school, but it wasn't all that memorable. It was more like if they won, they won, they lost, then they lost and so on. His teammates didn't seem passionate about volleyball either, so there wasn't really a point in continuing either.

He looked around the gym and saw a boy with spiky white, grayish hair shaped. He did a spike and it was beyond amazing, above his own skill level. It was like a blast of ice water to the face.

He gazed at the boy whispering to himself, "He's like a star."

"You really think that?" laughed an unfamiliar voice beside him. The voice belonged to a girl, at least he thinks.

"Huh?" he turns his head to see a girl with (h/l) (h/c) hair. Surprised by her sudden entrance, he nods in response. "His spikes are truly amazing, and his posture too. I think I would've broken my neck or something similar to that."

She laughs at how amazed he was, then again not surprised. The guy on the court is always able to grab one's attention so easily. "Yeah, they really are. But once you get to know the spiker he'll never stop asking for more sets." She rolled her eyes at the end, but lets out a small chuckle.

"Oh," he mumbles quietly. "Do you know him personally?"

The girl nods, a small smile forming on her lips. "Yeah, he's my cousin. He's also the reason I got into volleyball. If I were you, I would run away as fast as possible to avoid setting for him."

Ding!

A light bulb pops up in her mind as she remembers she never introduced herself to the boy next to her. "Oh! I'm L/n Y/n, currently still a third year in middle school. I do plan on coming here though." She stuck out her hand, motioning to shake his.

"I'm Akaashi Keiji," he says, shaking her hand in return. " it's a pleasure to meet you L/n-San. I'm also in my third year in middle school and received a scholarship from Fukurodani."

Y/n nodded, humming a soft tune to herself. "So, are you planning on coming here then?" Y/n asked curiously.

"Possibly," he replies. "I had gotten another scholarship too, so I'm not so sure yet. It's hard making choices."

"Well, I think you should," she shrugs, leaning against the wall of the gym. "If you do, then maybe we could see each other. You seem like a great guy, we could be friends if you want."

'She's such an easy going person, what a surprise I guess.' Akaashi thinks to himself as he plays with his fingers behind his back.

She gave him another smile, except this time it seemed weaker than before. Akaashi can't help but take out the inner therapist in him, yet he can't even help himself.

"Not trying to intrude on your personal business L/n-San, but is there something bothering you? You do seem down at the moment all of a sudden."

Her mouth open to speaks, but she quickly closes it, shaking her head no. "I'm alright, thank you for asking."

"Are you sure?" he asks once again. "I really don't mind, but if it's personal I won't force you. I am a stranger still after all."

Y/n slowly nods in agreement, yet she can't help but let out a sigh of defeat when she's holding the urge to not ask him any questions. Biting the inside of her lip, she turns to Akaashi and decides to go with a more vague question.

"How do you move on from unrequited love?" she doesn't look him straight in the eye, eye contact scared her anyways. Instead she tries to avert her gaze to anywhere but him, unsure of how he would respond. "It's just a question, you don't have to answer it. I'm sure you probably don't know the answer either.."

Akaashi shakes his head. "No it's just-" he pauses himself mid way, a small blush creeping up his cheeks. "I've never been in love. It's not something I'm focusing on in life at the moment. Though that might change now.." he whispers the last part quietly, in hopes she doesn't hear him. Luckily, she doesn't. She's too absorbed in her own world to realize he's getting flustered.

"Ah, that must be nice. You're doing the impossible." Y/n chuckles aloud. She looks down onto the gold watch on her wrist and sighs, her parent was expecting her to be home ten minutes ago. "I got to go, maybe I'll see you again if we end up at Fukurodani. Goodbye Akaashi-San."

"Oh," Akaashi mumbles out. "Goodbye L/n-San." He watches as her figure walks away from him, a small wave sent to her but she didn't even noticed when she turned away.

'That was one encounter,' Akaashi thinks to himself, his attention retuning back to the court in front of him.

Suddenly, the star of the court comes running up to him with a volleyball in hands. He nervously approaches him with a smile, his hand scratching the back of his neck as he asks him a question.

"Hey, are you a setter by chance?"

Akaashi hesitantly nods after Bokuto places the ball in his hand. "Yes, Akaashi Keiji," he answered him. "I played setter in my middle school."

"Hey hey hey!" he exclaimed, his eyes shining once again. "That's awesome! I'm Bokuto Koutarou, nice to meet you!"

And then began a new friendship, and a new setter at Fukurodani for the next school year.
