This is an idea I've been playing around with for a while. So, to clarify things beforehand:
Ages:
Arthur: 3 years older than Merlin
Lancelot: 6 years older than Merlin
Gwaine: Same age as Lancelot
This is an AU if you can't tell already, based around the idea of Merlin being a lost prince. I know, it's pretty overdone... but what if I told you that in this AU, Merlin isn't the only one from a different kingdom?
There won't be any relationships because it's not necessary for the story.
Timeline:
Merlin arrives at Camelot: He is sixteen years old, Arthur is eighteen.
That's pretty much the only relevant part I can think of.
