"Hyungwon, this is Miss Hyolyn, she'll be babysitting you today."

An eight-year old Hyungwon looked up at the tan-skinned woman standing in the doorway of what he assumed was her house. He continued to hide behind his father's legs, even though the lady was holding her hand out for him to shake.

"I'm sorry about that, Hyojung. He's very shy."

"It's fine, I heard about what happened. It's understandable for him not to trust me."

Mr. Chae just sighed before turning around and crouching down to meet his son in the eyes.

"Hyungwon-ah, I have to go into the office for a few hours today, and I can't leave you alone. So, Miss Hyolyn is here to take care of you. Can you be good for her?"

Hyungwon nodded, before hugging his dad one last time. He hiked his turtle shell backpack higher on his shoulders as he walked into the gold and white decorated house.

"Welcome, Hyungwon, my name is Hyolyn, but you can just call me Miss Hyolyn if you would like to. Is there anything I can get you? Do you need anything?"

Hyungwon just shook his head.

"Okay, would you like to go sit on the couch? I don't want you to stand the entire day."

Hyungwon nodded, and Hyolyn took his hand, leading him to the couch and helping him get up on it.

"Well, Hyungwon, what do you like to do in your free time?"

"Violin. And I like to draw."

"Really? What do you play on the violin?"

"Classical music."

"Right... Well, you said you like to draw, would you like to draw? I have paper you can use."

"Okay."

Hyungwon took a packet of colored pencils out of his backpack, as Hyolyn got up to grab him a few sheets of paper. She sat the paper down on the coffee table in front of Hyungwon, and watched him draw.

She knew that this wouldn't be the last time she had to babysit Hyungwon, and that eventually he would open up to her.

Hyungwon stared up at his ceiling, bored and a little sad.

It was his sixteenth birthday, and he had no one to spend it with. His dad was out on a business trip, and he didn't have any other friends. His dad had given him his present a day early, but it wasn't the same as receiving it on his birthday.

He was about to turn on music, to quell his boredom, before he heard the doorbell ring. He knew that if they got through the gate, he could trust them, so he just walked downstairs to open the door.

When he opened it, he was met with a nicely dressed Hyolyn, holding a small cake, reading "Happy Birthday Hyungwon!"

He let her into the house, letting her put the cake down on the counter, before the two met in a hug.

"Don't worry, Hyungwon-ah, I'd never forget your birthday."

"Thank you, noona."

Sure, Hyolyn might have just been his father's friend who babysitted him for most of his childhood, but she was the mom he never had.
