Generation Fur

Chapter 5

3rd POV

"My king, we believe that we've found something," a male Brown and Black Rabbit Fur in a lab coat said while bowing before the throne in front of him. The king looked down at him with a raised eyebrow.

"What is it?" he said, "I hope it's something actually worth my time"

The Rabbit Fur nodded and stood, looking at the king, but not in his eyes, as would be a sign of challenge and they would be executed immediately. It is disrespectful to those in higher positions as ones highest point is the eyes, it would less rude to say the challenge aloud, to their face. But even then they would still be killed on the spot in front of the King, simply because he is King.

"It is your highness." The Rabbit Fur said tapping his foot nervously. The king stood up and started to walk towards him. Stalking him, taunting him to give in to his instincts and run.

"Okay then, show me. If it's interesting enough I won't kill you all" he said dangerously and the Rabbit Fur jumped slightly, but turned and dashed off towards the doors leading down to the lab. The king had set up for the scientists to be in the basement, level with the dungeons, so that they understood their place underneath him and everyone there.

While this was happening the scientists in the room were running around preparing for something, one of them discovered that the cells of a Fur could bond with those of a human and the human would be changed into a Fur. But the transformed human would be faster and stronger than any Fur, making it the next important evolutionary change of the world other than when humanity accidentally created the Fur race.

A scientist told the others of what they found and what it meant for the world, and the tyrant oppressing them. But without them knowing it, one of them slipped away and went straight for the king.

"We need to destroy everything," a female Panther scientist with white hands, a white tipped tail, and white lines going along her sides and around her throat said. After everyone had calmed down, and just after the Rabbit Fur had left.

"This cannot be seen by the King. He is going to kill us anyways. We need to kill every human here that has been infected, and in a way that the King can't bring someone else in to figure this out and do something the world may never recover from."

"What do you mean?" A Goat Fur scientist asked stepping forwards, and the female Panther looked at him

"I mean the extinction of an entire species," she said, "the extinction of the entire Human Race, or at least whats lest of it. Everything that we need to destroy this place is already within our grasp, and I'm letting you know now that no one here is escaping this place still alive. Gather up every explosive element you can find, flood the halls, flood the dungeon vents with combustible gases. We are incinerating everything"

The Rabbit Fur and the King were about halfway to the labs when an explosion rocked the entire building. An small spark ignited the gas starting from the lab and spreading through-out the entire dungeon. Every prisoner and guard there had already gone unconscious because of the fumes were incinerated, as was the lab and everyone in it. No one would know what they discovered.

"Huh," the King purred turning to the Rabbit Fur, "it seems the others didn't want something getting out. Do you know what it was?"

"N-no, I-I left to tell you that the others had made an important discovery and weren't planning on telling you."

"Oh well, I suppose you wouldn't happen to know what this oh-so-important discovery was would you?" The King moves forwards in a flash and had the Rabbit pinned to the wall by his ears.

"N-no I don't" the Rabbit Fur said trembling in fear. The King growled and dropped the creature, motioning with his hand. His guards seized the Rabbit Fur by the shoulders and arms and held him I place as the King stalked up to him and dragged the back of his claw across the other Fur's throat.

"You are a coward and a stupid man. One that didn't even try to think that maybe staying would've been useful for a second before leaving in a hurry. Instead you just let your greed of potential freedom cloud your actions, and you ran to cry wolf." The King growled softly. The Rabbit Fur was now shivering with fear, shaking his head and saying 'no' repeatedly.

"You should've known from the beginning that once I took you for this experiment you were never going to see the sun again." The King whispered in the Rabbit Fur's ear, stepping close and putting the tips of his claws on the front of the Rabbit Fur's chest.

"Please, please, I'll do--" the Rabbit Fur's cried turned into a gasp of shock as the Kings claws and hand pushed through his chest, shredding through his sternum and ribs before ripping out his heart.

"I don't want you to be doing anything for me, you failure." The King said holding up Rabbit Fur's still beating heart in the palm of his hand, making the other Fur watch as it's own heart slowed and eventually stopped beating. Then the light left the Rabbit Fur's eyes and it also stopped working. Stopped living.

"I hate scientists" the King said and crushed the heart in his palm as the Rabbit Fur was dragged away, there was a bucket of water brought forwards for the king to wash of his hands, "the weak ones are always so predictable."

He drew his hands from the water and grabbed the towel brought forwards, and then dismissed the two servants holding the now wet and bloody towel and the red water. The two hurried away, wanting to get as far away from the King as they possibly could. The King watched them scurry away for a moment with a predatory gaze before turning to the two that had returned from wherever they dumped the dead Rabbit Fur. Now standing at attention in front of their King.

"Sometime this next month you, my personal guard will also be tested, and for your sales I hope you are prepared." He said gazing in their direction with amusement. The two didn't show anything outside, as they would be killed immediately, but inside they were filled with fear. What could possibly be having the King smiling? And what was their test going to be in the form of?
