The sounds coming from the animals was all around me as Draco tried to keep a conversation going I just wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone at this moment in time. I sat at my table with my owl Precious and Draco on my right. From the corner of my eye I saw Draco look at me and sigh.
"Don't let it bother you." He murmured as Professor McGonagall sat on her desk in her cat for. She perked up when the doors flew open and Harry, Ron, and Jada flew inside.
"Oh thank goodness could you believe the look on McGonagall's face if she knew were late?" Ron whispered to Harry just as cat Mcgonagall jumped off the desk and changed back to her human self.
"Woah! That was wicked!" Ron exclaimed Professor McGonagall pulled a face before replying.
"We got lost sorry Professor." Jada spoke up finally.
"Perhaps a map? I suggest you don't need one to find your seats." Professor McGonagall responded turning on her heel and walking back to her desk. Harry and Ron exchanged looks before all three of them found a seat. I tried not making eye contact with Jada. So I fixed my gaze back on Precious. I felt a comforting on my knee causing me to look up and find a smiling Draco.
“It’s okay I told you Gryffindor’s were bad news and I understand you wouldn’t have known they were Gryffindor till after the sorting, but now you know.” he murmurs quietly as to not disrupt the class. I bite my lip and flick my eyes to Jada. She gives me a small smile before turning back to her transfigurations. I look back at Draco a new surge of confidence running through my veins.
“Thank you Draco. You know you aren’t all that bad.” I give him a small wink and pat his hand that was still on my knee before going back to my own transfigurations knowing I still had a chance at a friendship with Jada. Once we were dismissed I told Draco to meet me in the common room and that I had to talk to the Professor about something and that I’d be there soon. He hesitated a moment before nodding and taking our things back to the dorms. I waited till the door shut behind him that I took a deep breath and turned to where Jada was still seated trying to perfect her transfiguration spell. I smile at her determined face and plop down next to her receiving a glare from Ron. I ignore his looks as I quietly tap Jada on the shoulder bringing her out of her concentration.
“Hey Jada I’m sorry to disturb you but there wouldn’t be any chance that we could still be friends even though I’m friends with Dra-Malfoy.” I clear my throat as I call Draco by his last name for the first time. This caught Jada and Harry’s attention.
“I suppose but remember he isn’t a huge fan of my brother and I and if he finds out you’re still good friends with us he might just turn against you. I think it’s a smart idea for you to be friends with him to be honest because you don’t want to have enemies in your house especially not Malfoy.” she gave me an understanding smile before turning to Harry and Ron, “Are you guys okay with her still hanging around us?” Harry nodded but Ron didn’t look convinced.
“Look I understand you’re mad at me for allowing Malfoy to lean on my shoulder but that was so he could read the Daily Prophet as I showed him that Gringotts had been broken into.” with that I turned and left close to tears once more knowing if I couldn’t win Ron over I probably couldn’t keep a strong friendship with Jada or Harry. As I got to the stone door I hesitated fearing what Draco might have to say. I inhaled deeply as I said the password and slipped into the common room.
“Good! I thought you got lost for a second there. I thought I was going to have to come looking for you!” Draco teased as I approached him on the couch. I stuck my tongue out at him playfully before responding.
“I’m not that helpless.” I reply plopping down next to him causing the couch to rattle a little bit.
“I question that.” Draco smiled giving me a playful wink causing heat to rise in my cheeks as I look away quickly covering my face with my hair. Draco chuckled beside me causing me to roll my eyes.
