The class woke up feeling tired as woozy. After all, most of them were staying up, spying on the group of witches who had just gotten their powers back during the night.
Of course, they thought it was a trick, a dream, or maybe that they were just so sleep deprived that they had just imagined it all but they could all agree. Magic wasn't real.
Right?
But even if it was real and everything I saw was true. Those three losers who were once very popular, minus Kagami, were outcast and got bullied everyday for not believing the 'innocent', is what they said, new girl, who wasn't new anymore, just to get attention.
Even bully her friends for it. Of course they thought it was a little weird they all had the same 'dream' but they couldn't help but not really think about it. Of course, Marinette didn't care. If her ex-friends couldn't even believe whatever lies Lila told them then why would they care whatever rumor she spread.
"Take a picture, it'll last longer!" Chloe exclaimed to the small group of girls who were watching them with disgust.
"Whatever, at least I don't steal girls' boyfriends," the snarky girl replied.
"What do you mean?" Chloe asked, folding her arms. "What I mean is, Lila told us how you went all over her boyfriend, Adrien Agreste, because she said she liked him," her friend replied.
"I would never. That bitch can have him. He is a fake and a phony and I never want to see him again in my life," Chloe said.
"And even if she did 'steal' Adrien," Kagami used quotation marks around the word steal, "that would mean that Lila was such a bad girlfriend that he would cheat on her," Kagami said and dragged Marinette and Chloe away from the group
"Uhhh!" Chloe complained."She's making my life unbearable," she grumbled. Marinette let out a small whimper that made them turn to her.
Lila and Alya were right behind them, not eavesdropping on purpose but they couldn't help it.
"Oh, sweetie, are you okay?" Kagami asked. "It's just that I miss them so much and it hurts that they believed her and not me and I've been their friend for so long. I don't even know what she told them that made them so upset with me."
By this time a few tears had made their way to her eyes. Kagami and Chloe went and hugged her. "No, I'm fine," Marinette said. "Piper, you don't have to pretend," Kagami said.
Alya felt slightly guilty. Marinette didn't get a second chance. She could trick them but Lila had brought the truth into the light.
"No, stop worrying about this. We have to get the book back and I don't care what they have to say. Now, we agreed that we would talk to our parents about going to America for a few weeks next week right?" Marinette asked.
"Yeah, my dad will probably say yes and I'll make the excuse that I'm visiting my mom," Chloe said.
"I'll ask my mom and say it's for a fencing tournament," Kagami said. "Okay, nothing will go wrong," Marinette said.
"Except for the fact that Kagami's mom might say no and so will your parents and we don't have the Book of Shadows and a dem-"
"Shhh!"
"'Rutabagas'. Let's not risk it," Marinette said. They stay silent for a while before Kagami and Chloe look at her lovingly as she looks back at them questioningly. "What? Why are you guys looking at me like that? "
"That was the code word for you and Leo's wedding. You remembered?" Kagami said.
Marinette looked down. "I didn't. I guess it was just my subconsciousness. Can we not talk about my I don't know if he was dead-not husband," Marinette said and rushed inside the classroom.
Kagami and Chloe just looked at each other and went inside the classroom. At this point, Alya was sure they were going crazy and she couldn't wait til she told her boyfriend and his best friend.
Lila's phone suddenly rang. She looked at the caller ID. "You go inside. I'll be right in there," Lila said. Alya went inside the learning area.
"Hello? Yes, that's perfect. I'll pick up the pictures tonight at 8. And the video? Perfect? I've got to go," and with that Lila hung up and entered the classroom.
"Ah, perfect! Now that Ms. Rossi is here. As a surprise and for studies, we will take a senior class trip to..."
Everybody held their breath.
"San Francisco, California!"
