warnings: just mentions of smoking a cigarette

You were sitting in at the dining table of the Foreman house when Kitty walked through the door. You looked up from the magazine you were reading to watch her walk right past you and out the back door. You furrowed your brows and got up to follow her.

You slid open the sliding glass door and saw her bent over the railing of their back deck with a cigarette between her fingers. She took a long drag before huffing loudly, the smoke coming out in a large cloud. "Stressful day?" you asked as you stepped out. You closed the sliding glass door behind you before walking to stand next to her. She took another drag before answering. "Yes"

"And that cigarette is supposed to help?" you gestured to it in her hand. She nodded. "Yes" you raised your eyebrows at her. "Oh don't give me that look. I don't smoke them enough for them to kill me" you shook your head. "That's what everyone says but their all lying to themselves" she ignored you, continuing to smoke.

"My dad said he knew someone who smoked so much they had to get a hole in their throat" she turned to you with wide eyes. "No way! I've been a nurse for long enough that if that was real I would have seen something like that" you shook your head. "It was real" you paused for a moment. "And he still smoked cigarettes through the hole in his throat" Kitty chuckled. "You're kidding!"

"Nope! All day long puffing away through the damn hole in his throat!" Kitty began to laugh harder as you continued talking. "On top of that he sounded like he was death himself!" Kitty continued laughing. "I've smoked a pack a day for the past 20 years and now I have to have a hole in my throat, but that doesn't stop me! I still smoke everyday!" you imitated a deep raspy voice. Kitty had dropped and stomped out her cigarette at that point, close to tears laughing.

She suddenly stopped, her eyes going wide. "What?" you asked, concerned. "I, uh, have to go to the restroom" she waddled into the house before you had a chance to realize. Once you did you busted out laughing. "Shut up!" you heard Kitty yell from inside the house, which only made you laugh more.
