The screen lit with, twitter, Instagram, Facebook
She doesn’t realize that she is hooked
Hooked on a line that someone’s fishing
Fishing for pain, it always starts with a simple phrase.
“You are ugly and unloved!”
The keyboard is wet within seconds of reading it
The pain doesn’t stop there, message after message
“Why do you bother living, just go die?”
“People have always hated you”
“People will NEVER love you”.
Why do you stay online?
When it causes you so much hurt
Why do you struggle alone?
When so many would help
Why do you look?
When you know it's going to hurt.
They are everywhere she looks,
On her twitter and Facebook feed
Mocking her every move
Pushing her down when
She finally gets the strength to get up.
Suddenly another message box appears
She hovers over not wanting to open it
Finally, she gains the courage
The unknown message opens
“We all love you!”
Her face relaxes
Her eyes dance with a new light
She smiles as if for the first time
She stares at the screen
Like she can’t look away
Suddenly the laptop screen goes black
And she leaves with a new bounce in her step.
They never will light again with Instagram, Facebook or even twitter.
