"Trick candles? Seriously Morgan, are you five?" You asked as he put trick candles on the cake. He chuckled. "Oh sweetheart you gotta enjoy the little things." He said. "I will enjoy giving my present to him." You said. "This is just an asshole move." You added. "What's your present? A kiss?" He teased. You blushed and avoided eye contact. "Garcia really needs to learn privacy with personal details." You muttered. "She never will, seriously, what did you get him?" Morgan asked. "A philosophy book." You said with a smile. "...Yay?" Morgan said confused. "The book hasn't even been released yet, however I know the author and managed to convince him to give me an early release" You said. ".... Only Spencer would find this intriguing Sweetheart." Morgan said. "Oh fuck off." you sighed, taking the cake to Spencer's desk. JJ smirked, holding up a ridiculous hat. "Who is that for?" You asked. "Spencer." She said. "Oh Jesus Christ." You breathed. "Speaking of birthdays, when is yours?" Elle asked. "Not saying, especially if that thing is involved." You said poking the hat with a pen. "Why?" Morgan asked. "I just don't like my birthday." You sighed. The glass door opened and you smiled. "Hi Spence." you waved. He groaned, seeing JJ's hat. "Please don't--" it was too late as Morgan put it on his head and forced the boy to sit. You leaned over, lighting the candles and whispered "They're rigged." Spencer gave you a small smile, and you handed Morgan the lighter, tucking a piece of your hair back with a blush. "Make a wish!" Elle teased. "They're rigged aren't they?" Spencer asked. Morgan shot a glance to you. "You don't like pranks either, do you buzzkill?" Morgan asked. ".....I never said that, and now that you're acting like a douche, I'd watch your step." You warned with a smirk. Spencer smiled and you put an actual birthday candle on the cake. "Make a wish Spence." You encouraged. He smiled and blew it out and Elle exchanged a glance with Morgan. They all knew exactly what that boy wished for and it was standing next to him.

JJ smiled and cut the cake. "Hope you like chocolate." JJ said. Spencer looked over his shoulder and noticed Gideon, getting up and walking over. "You having fun?" Gideon asked. Spencer looked over his shoulder and looked at you, who was laughing at something Morgan said. "Yes, definitely. I'm definitely having fun." He said, clearly distracted by you. " Make a wish?" Gideon asked. "Can I take this hat off?" Spencer asked. "I wouldn't." Gideon said. Spencer sighed. "Hey Spence, first piece for the birthday boy." You said, pointing to a piece of cake on his desk. Spencer smiled. "Do you know she's the only person in the whole world who calls me 'Spence'?" Spencer told Gideon. Gideon smiled, watching Spencer walk over and take the plate. "Thank you." he nodded. You handed him a wrapped present. "Happy birthday partner." you said with a smile. Spencer rose a brow, opening the gift and gaping. "Holy-- How!?" He gaped. "I may or may not know the author." you said with a smile. "Thank you Y/n!" He said before hugging you. It wasn't until mid hug Spencer realized the affection he just showed you and pulled away. You blushed, avoiding eye contact but smiling. "Sorry." He apologized. "Never apologize for hugs. Hugs are great." You said with a smile. He gave you a small smile and looked at the book. "It's also signed." You added. "...Seriously, could you be any more amazing?" Spencer asked. You chuckled. "Well I'm not a unicorn and I've never been on broadway, so no. This is as great as I get." You said. He chuckled and Morgan nudged Elle, nodding to you and Spencer. "They so need to date." Elle sighed. "Agreed." JJ and Morgan said in unison.

"Sorry, guys, the party's over" Hotch said. "Thank. God." Spencer said taking off the hat making you laugh. You all moved to the conference room, sitting next to Spencer as usual. Although Morgan seemed oddly glued to you and Spencer. "What?" You asked. "Oh nothing. Nothing at all." Morgan said. You rolled your eyes, turning your attention to Hotch. "We're going to San Diego." Hotch said walking in. "Not for the surfing, huh?" Morgan asked rhetorically. "They're calling him the Tommy killer." JJ said putting files in front of the team. "Six women raped and murdered in their homes in the last three weeks." Hotch explained. "six in three weeks?" Elle asked. "That's a short fuse." Gideon commented. " And getting shorter. The first 2 were 8 days apart then the next four in two weeks." Hotch said. "Rapid escalation." Spencer noticed. "Do you think he's regressing to a psychopathic frenzy?" You asked. "No, he's too controlled for that." Hotch said. You frowned, reading over the file. "See you on the plane." Hotch said leaving. "Why the Tommy killer?" Morgan asked. "You know the rock opera? This unsub glues the victims' eyes wide open." Hotch said. "He wants them to see him." Spencer muttered. "And feel him." Gideon said sending shivers down your spine. Hotch was still in the doorway, noticing your discomfort and motioned for you to follow. You nodded, and got up. He pulled you aside. "Are you sure you want to work on this case? Considering what the matter is?" Hotch asked. You cleared your throat to stop a "Let me die now" noise. "I... I think I can handle this. At least right now." You admitted. "If you need to step back Y/n, let me know." Hotch said. "I'm okay." you nodded. Hotch walked off and you took in a deep breath.
