You woke up, taking a shower and coming back out. Garcia was already getting ready. "Hey, my Girl Wonder." She greeted. "...Girl Wonder?" You asked noticing the similar nickname to Spencer. "Yeah. Boy wonder is Spencer who I believe is your soulmate and you're practically the same person. You're Girl Wonder." She said. You smiled with a slight blush on your face. Garcia noticed and did that giddy laugh when she knew something. "You like him!?" She asked. Your face turned a darker shade of red and she squealed. "IT'S A SMALL CRUSH OKAY!?" you blurted out. "Y/n! You two would make a badass couple!" Garcia said. "It's a small crush Garcia, it'll pass." You whined. "I can literally picture the genius wedding now!" She sighed. "Garcia! Small crush. That's it!" You said. "Y/n, come on. Can you actually see yourself having something with him?" "We have work." You said putting on your shirt. "Y/n! You're answering my question!" She sighed. "No I'm not. Now grab your stuff and let's go!" You groaned. "Y/n can you!?" She asked. You finally breathed. "I don't know." You finally answered. She sighed and followed you out the door. "We can ride--" "Oh Girl Wonder there is not a chance in hell I'm riding a motorcycle." she said. You sighed. "Don't tell me--"
And so you rode the subway begrudgingly. You came into work with a sigh. "I'm just saying, glamour girl, you could rock that motorcycle look." You said walking out. Spencer looked up and you rolled your eyes at Garcia as she kicked you out of her office. Spencer watched you make coffee and Gideon moved a chess piece. "Check. Checkmate in three moves." Gideon said. "Wha--" "You know you'll beat him when you start learning." Morgan said. "Learning what?" Spencer asked. "To think outside the box." Morgan replied before leaning up. "Question for you." Elle said as you sat down. "Shoot." Morgan said. "The footpath killer, why did he stutter?" Elle asked. "Come on Elle, we've all asked him, and he won't say. " Morgan said. "He wants you to figure it out." You said sipping on your coffee. "Oh and you know?" Elle asked cockily. "I'm a doctor in psychology. Duh." You said making Spencer smile. "Okay. I'm up for a challenge." She said head held high. "Good! Because these go to you." a blonde woman said handing Elle a stack of files. "Special Agent Jennifer Jareau, JJ if you like." She greeted hand extended. "Elle--" "Greenaway, highest number of solved cases in Seattle three years running, specialty in sex offender cases." JJ recited. "Not bad." Elle nodded. "Well, I'm the unit liaison. My specialty is untangling bureaucratic knots. You'll probably be talking to me a lot. My door is always open, mostly because I'm never in my office, so just call me on my cell, okay? We'll talk." She said walking. You blinked. "So that blonde tornado was JJ right?" you asked. Spencer cracked a smile. "You know you have checkmate in three?" You pointed out. "Oh come on!" Spencer whined. "BAU team, can you meet me in the conference room, please? I need to show you something." Hotch called. "Homicide. Yay." You sighed getting up.
"This is from the Phoenix office, Bradshaw college in Tempe, six fires in seven months." Hotch began. "Who recorded it?" Gideon asked. "A student with a digital camcorder. He was watching a fire in the building across from their dorm. The other person you'll see is his roommate, 20 year-old Matthew Rowland" JJ replied. The video began, smoke coming through a window. The boy went to the door and soon caught fire making you wince. "Arson. Fun." You said sarcastically. "Wheels up in thirty." Hotch said before you all got up. You walked to your desk, grabbing your go bag and Spencer rose a brow. "You're prepared for anything aren't you?" He asked. "Just the predictable things." You said. He moved his chess piece and you moved the opposing one. He looked up and moved his staring at you. You moved the other piece and he moved his and you said "Checkmate." He sighed. "Like I said. Always prepared for the predictable." You sassed. Morgan smiled to himself as you went back to your
Soon, you were on the jet, reading a book on Philosophy next to Spencer. "There are two common stressors for a serial arsonist." Spencer pointed out. "Loss of job, loss of love." Elle said. " When was the first fire set?" Morgan asked. Hotch looked at the file and answered "March. Uh, the next one was in May, and the third one wasn't 'til September. Then two weeks later there were three in one night." "highlights the dates in a calendar on his laptop." Morgan nodded. "He's speeding up. Fires are closer together." Gideon noticed." Hey, Reid, you got a statistic on arsonists?" Morgan asked curiously. " 82% are white males between 17 and 27. Female arsonists are far less likely, their motive typically being revenge." Spencer answered. "Sounds like our boy's a student." Morgan said. " Don't be so sure. You rely too much on precedent, you never allow for the unexpected. If he went from setting one fire to three in two weeks' time..." Gideon warned. "Rapid escalation." Hotch nodded. "He's gone from the power to damage a building to something far more satisfying. The power over life and death. Who we talking to first?" Gideon asked. "Dean of Students, Ellen Turner." Hotch answered. "I wonder what goes through a mind of an arsonist... Is it like a cave man? 'oooh fire pretty'?" You joked making Spencer crack a smile. "I don't know 'Dr. In Psychology', you tell me." Elle sassed. "Screw off nerd-- Checkmate in two." You said. "SERIOUSLY!?" Spencer sighed.
