She looks upward to see the sun and moon both high in the sky shining bright and beautiful, almost like they were greeting each other in the eerie twilight. The girl observed her surroundings in her dazed state. To her left was a small flock of birds flying rather slowly. Has everything taken to a sluggish pace? Wait no. Perhaps time has alway been this slow? She looked toward the right to see a city consumed by a beautiful, yet destructive red flame that cared not to rush any faster than anything else under time's control. "I hope everyone has fled to safety..." she said muttering under her drowsy tone.
On the road as seen from her hill, the girl saw two silhouettes a little ways from the city. They appeared to be struggling to their feet- perhaps they needed help. As the girl teetered to their location, she never truly felt like her feet were making contact with the ground, even though they appeared to. The girl felt a strong sense of weightlessness. Strange. Maybe she was just tired.
Upon arrival, she found that the silhouettes were a distressed boy crouched down by a girl on the ground who lay in a puddle of her own blood, the fluid streaming down something that stabbed through her abdomen. Looking closer at the poor girls face, a name comes to mind..... was it...................... S̸̷̶̸̵̷̵̶̴̴̸̵̴̸̷̴̷̵̶̴̴̸̴̸̶̶̷̴̵̷̷̴̶̴̶̸̶̵̴̴̴̶̷̢̻̮͐ṅ̵̵̵̸̷̶̵̵̵̷̷̴̷̷̸̶̷̸̷̵̷̸̶̵̵̵̶̷̵̸̸̷̶̷̷̵̵̸̷̵̷̶̴̷̸̶̵̴̷̸̲͉̱̊ǒ̸̸̴̸̴̶̶̷̶̸̶̸̸̷̶̶̶̸̸̴̶̸̴̸̴̸̵̵̷̶̸̶̵̵̷̴̴̷̴̶̷̷̷̷̸̸̴̴̴̸̼̺̔̄ẘ̷̷̶̵̸̷̶̴̷̶̸̵̵̴̶̷̴̷̶̸̶̶̷̸̸̷̸̶̷̵̷̷̵̸̸̷̸̵̷̶̵̴̵̴̵̵̷̶̵̸̶̶̵̵̸̸̸͓́͗̽̚ ?...... It's on the tip of her tongue. As she tries to remember, the name slips away. "What happened here? Maybe I can help?" the drowsy girl offered to the boy. After an extended silence, she assumes that he is too upset to answer.
She extends her fingers to the girl's neck to check for a pulse of any kind- absent pulse. How sad. Though there is nothing the drowsy girl can do, unfortunately. Catching a glimpse of the bird next the poor girl, she turns her attention toward it. The bird glows bright blue in contrast to the rest of the dull, monotone world around it, and it nudges its head at the poor girl, tail down, as if to try to wake her.
The girl crouches down and makes a sorrowful expression toward the bird. "I'm sorry about your friend...," says the drowsy girl. After a long pause, she continues, "I might not be able to help your friend, but perhaps I can be of some comfort to you..." She held out her hand for the bird to observe before stroking the back of its head. The distressed boy placed his cloak over the girl, and then finally got up to walk away. Maybe he was going to fetch help? The girl decided that she'd look after the bird until he returned.
Standing up, she scooped up the bird and held it in her arms, supporting its feet with one arm and hugging it with the other. She noticed a bright comforting light appearing behind her. Something deep inside the drowsy girl longed for her to follow it, but she turned away, ignoring it.
The girl walked over to the tree that loomed next to the road. Back against the tree trunk, the drowsy girl carefully slid into a sitting position, as to not scare the bird. She yawned and scooted into a more comfortable position. She looked down at the bird, "I can't leave you in your time of need," she spoke softly, "....I'll be your friend...we can stick together...." She yawned an even bigger yawn this time, her heavy eyelids fluttering to a close. "....you....and I......" She snored softly now as the world around her gradually darkened.
The bird kindly took her offer. It snuggled in to its new friend; they'd be together from then on. They'd be one. The sleeping girl against the tree luminated a brilliant blue, and the darkness repelled away from her. The light hugged her entire being. It was like a warm summer breeze blowing against her cheeks and through her hair.
The poor, bloodied girl on the path was all alone now with no one around. Her body grew to rising temperatures until her blood began to sizzle, and the metal stake stabing through her melted and seeped out of her torso. Minutes later, the bloody girl took the cloak off of her face and sat up. She stretched- her head felt stuffy like she had been asleep for days.....
