*Tobins POV*

The virus has finally reached our city, I wasn't so worried, I was fit and healthy and it likely wouldn't be any worse than the common cold. However, it was limiting what I could do, I couldn't leave the house unless necessary and there was no more football. I was lonely too, my apartment was so empty, usually it didn't matter, I'd be home just to go to bed then I'd be out with my teammates again. But not anymore. I was running out of things to do.

I didn't share my apartment with any of my team like everyone else did, most of them didn't live in Portland all year so they just rented for the months that the NWSL was on, I know Christen was one of those people too. I was different, I lived here all year, so I had my own place, it was further from the stadium so my teammates were all renting closer.

I had spent a few days paining, collections of words, some patterns, abstract. I had done some writing, I even turned my loungeroom into a gym. I think I had watched everything on Netflix about four days ago. It was incredibly boring, I hadn't had a face to face conversation with anyone but the grocer in about five days.

I was deep in my own thoughts, pondering about what it is that I would entertain myself with today, play bowling with my shampoo bottles and a pair of socks? Learn calligraphy and write out my entire life story? No, today was the day that I would finally clean the entire house without complaining. I continued to brainstorm, I hadn't left my bed yet, the daylight was streaming through the blinds across my face. So much time left in the day. I was saved from my mind when I heard my phone vibrate from the bedside table. Ah, Christen.

"Christen to Tobin: Hey, is your place full? There's five of us here and the doctor wants us to be in numbers of three or less"

"Tobin to Christen: Heyy  place is empty and I am bored. Could use the company"

"Christen to Tobin: Sonnet has gone to her parents, if I come to yours that would leave 3 at the apartment"

"Tobin to Christen: See you soon then :)"

"Christen to Tobin: About that...I'm downstairs, can you let me in?"

"Tobin to Christen: Coming!"

Finally a distraction, I jumped out from my bed and made my way down the stairs to the front door, it required a key card to get in. It hadn't hit me until I reached the ground floor that I was still wearing my Pyjamas, at least they were nice ones. A simple tank top and spotted shorts, my hair probably could have done with a quick brush, but it didn't matter, Christen was a good friend and we'd seen worse from each other anyway, hell we see each other half naked in the change rooms almost every day.

I finally reached the door after my escapade down the stairs, sure enough that familiar smiling face was waiting at the door for me. She was always so positive, I rarely see her down. I opened up the door and greeted Christen with a grin, she looked me up and down and returned the smile, "Nice Pj's Tobs," she added, shaking her head in amusment.

I laughed quietly at her joke and moved away from the doorway so she could walk inside, "Nice to see you too," I returned, "Do you have any bags you want help with?" I asked, noticing she only had the one duffle bag with her.

"This is it, I didn't want to take up too much space, and we probably won't end up leaving the apartment for anything important anyway," she shrugged. I was a little confused at first, but at a second glance her bag was pretty big, there was probably plenty of stuff in there.

I walked back up the stairs, Christen following behind. What could I do today now that I had company? Have an actual conversation? I've never been so excited to have someone in my apartment. Upon Christen settling in I started making breakfast, all I had was toast, not a big selection of stuff was left at the shops.

I sat on the opposite side of the dining table from Christen, she was so beautiful. I finally had an excuse to really look at her, her eyes were so bright, so full of life and love. Sometimes I wondered what it would be like to hold her, I wondered what her skin would feel like under mine, I wondered if she thought the same.

We spent th rest of the day watching Netflix movies in between eating snacks and messing around like small children. She tried to start a mini wrestling match mid way through our third movie, the indoors was driving us insane. I couldn't stop myself from joining in on the chidlish activity, it was the most fun I'd had in days.

Christen was winning, even if I was letting her in the end. I layed on my back at one end of the couch, slightly out of breath as Christen grinned at me from above, she'd pinned me to cushions and was cuounting down from 10 as if we were in a boxing match. I let her get to nine before catching her off gaurd and flipping her into a similar position, only my face was much closer to hers at this point. When we had rolled over she had tucker her legs around me and crossed her ankles behind my back.

She was now huffing slightly, the combination of surprise and defeat was written on her face. It had been far longer than ten seconds but we were still stuck in the same position, she hadn't unwrapped her legs from my waste and I hadn't unpinned her. I heard her swallow hard as she kept up the eyecontact, before I knew what had happened she used her legs to pull me closer to her chest again, the sudden move had caught me by surprise and I lost my upright positioning on th couch. We were now chest to chest, our noses were touching.

Her next move was to reach up and grab me by the sides of my face, she craned her neck up and pressed her lips to mine. I was shocked at first, but it didn't take me long to react, I placed my hands on either side of her head to lift myself just enough that I wasn't leaning all my weight on her. I kissed her back again, and again, she was in a frenzy but I couldn't complain, I'd been dreaming of this all day, all year.

I could feel myself becoming a little short of breath so I pulled back just enough to take a minute to breathe. I continued to keep eyecontact with Christen, neither of us intended on uttering a word, I had no idea what I could even say. We sat awkwardly staring at each other for a minute before I hopped up, "I...I uh. I'm heading to bed, you can sleep here...or, in my bed if you're uncomfortable," I offered as a way of breaking the silence.

I left to get changed in my room before sliding into bed and facing the window. My eyes were closed but my mind was wide awake. It felt like half an hour before I felt the other side of the bed dip down a little, looks like she had decided that this wasn't going to be awkward after all. We lay silent, even our breathing had become almost silent. I couldn't take the tension anymore, I rolled over, expecting to see her back I was a little surprised to see her already facing me.

"Hey," I whispered after noticing her eyes were open.

"Hey you," She replied, her eyelids looked heavy.

I looked at her for a second, thinking of something to say back, my brain was seemingly empty for the first time today. "Hey..." I didn't finish my sentence, Christen had leaned over to kiss me again, although it was dark and she had just kissed my eyebrow. "Chris, you missed," I giggled, reaching a hand out to her face and guiding her toward me instead. "Just so you know, that was the cutest thing that's ever happened," I finished, before leaning across and placing a single chaste kiss on her lips.

She smiled as we began to part away again, I grinned too, although I'm sure she couldn't tell. I rolled onto my back as Christen fixed her hair. "We'll talk about this tomorrow right?" She asked, shuffling over to tuck into my chest, letting her arm slide over my chest so she could hold me tighter.

I let my heartrate settle for a few seconds so I didn't sound out of breath, "Yeah, for sure," I finally added, tilting my head over to kiss her forehead.
