“Isabella!”

“You scared me.”

“I'm sorry, I was climbing trees and I heard a beautiful song, so...”

“Did you compose it, Leslie?”

“Yeah.”

“It's a lovely melody. What's the name of the song?”

“It doesn't have a name.”

“It's amazing. Let me hear more of it!”

“But it's embarrassing, so don't tell everyone else.”

“Okay.”

He took the mandolin once more and as he started to strum it, my eyes opened.

“Oh, it's that dream again.” I sighed, talking to myself. I looked up to see the sky above but instead, I saw the green leaves of the tree I'm sitting under on as it dances with the wind shading me from the rays of the sun.

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. I've dreamt the same dream for quite sometime now. My dreams were always a blur but today's dream was different. It felt real like it truly happened somewhere, sometime, I just can't name it. The surrounding was still a blur. Even that girl, I couldn't see her features well but the color of her eyes popped. It was the color of amethysts. The dream would always end before the melody could be strummed and sometimes it annoyed me.

That melody... That melody...

I quickly opened my eyes to hear someone humming. I looked left and right to see who but I didn't see anyone. The humming was near and clear and it went on. I stood up in search for the person.

I figured to look behind the tree. My eyes widened to see a girl sitting, humming. I glanced back to sit and listen.

The humming continued.

How long has she been sitting there I wonder?

Her hum was soft. So pleasantly soft that I felt peaceful and calm.

She continued humming and as she did, I fell more and more into it. I felt serendipitous? Maybe. I looked up the sky once more with the wind in the air. The hum grew more and more spiraling my emotions.

And then I felt empty.

The void inside me started to consume me.

Why did emptiness suddenly spring?

I felt lost, baffled.

The next thing I know, I felt a tear down on my cheek with the sound of the hum gone. I wiped my cheek with the white long sleeve that I was wearing. I looked behind the tree to see her out in the field under the sun.

“Mama!” She shouted as she walked away waving her hand in the air.

I felt an ache in my chest.

I want to know the name of that song she was humming. I want to listen more to that beautiful melody. I don't want her to go just yet.

“Hey!” I shouted. The wind stopped for a moment as my heart raced. She halted and turned to face me with both of her hands in the back carrying a vida flower. Our sights locked. Her amethyst colored eyes captivated me. She looked so familiar like I have seen her somehwere. “It was a beautiful song. I wish to hear it again.”

She smiled warmly and nodded. She felt so near despite our distance. The wind gushed, our gaze still in tact. The leaves started to fall and our gaze broke. She looked back and continued walking. She was dressed in white with her black hair playing along with the wind. I just stood there seeing her disappear.

The year was 2068. The cattle children's plan succeeded back in 2047. Both worlds now live in civil and at peace. Demons of this world no longer feed on human flesh. Demons named Musica and Sonju helped these demons through their blood. When the cattle children eliminated the monarchy and felled the Ratri clan, they all went to the human world opening the boundaries between the two realms.

I remained standing under the tree as she disappeared.

Those violet orbs, I've seen it. Is it you Isabella?

I sat down and gazed upon the field. I hummed the same melody as she did. I still felt empty.

I drifted asleep under the huge tree with the wind breezing with never dreaming the same dream ever again.
