"I think the other wolf left," said the girl as she carefully looked around, " He'll bring the entire pack here soon so let's wrap this up quick."
"So what exactly are you going to do?" I inquired as she began rubbing dirt all over her hand and placing some on the wolf.
She looked back at me and smiled, "Well, I have to get rid of the wolf's scent, unless you want to be last seen as a big walking piece of meat for them."
The thought sent chills down my back, "Anyways, thank you, for earlier."
She looked up at me and smiled, "Hmm, you seem fit but you're pretty dumb, who wanders into the woods with no weapons?" She laughed and shifted her gaze to the wolf.
"Well, I.... uhm... I kinda had to rush out of my home," I said truthfully, not lying yet.
"Ahh, so a runaway?" she said while looking back up at me.
"Well, uhm, kinda," I replied, halfway truthful.
"Kinda? Were you forced to get out?" She asked as she focused on the wolf once more.
"Yes," I replied truthfully... again.
"Ah your family must hate you," she chuckled as she told me that.
"Well, not really... There was another reason," still telling the truth.
"Then?" this time she got up and grapped the wolf by the head and started dragging him towards the river.
"Well, I- uh..." Crap! What should i say?? "Well you see, i w-"
"Scott! There you are!" I heard Jean's familiar voice and quickly turned around to see him, with two squirrels in his hand.
"So Scott is your name. Hmmm..." the girl got up and walked beside me to face Jean, who was shocked to see her.
"We- Well you see, my middle name is Scott!" I quickly said as I looked over to Jean, "Right?"
"Yes, I normally call him by Scott because it's so much easier!" Jean hesitantly replied.
"Right... I see, so what's your real name?" she asked me, not seeming to buy it.
"Well, it's... Eden, Eden Draver! Eden Scott Draver," I could feel her eyes squinting up at me as if they were piercing into my body to find my soul.
"Ah... sure, ok, and you are?" she said as she pointed at Jean.
"Well, I'm Jean. A pleasure to meet your aquaintance," Jean replied as he slightly bowed.
"Wow, such manners. You guys seem like you're from the castle in the nearby kingdom," she said as she looked back up at me, "Are you?"
"What?? No no no no no," I said as i shook my hands and slightly stepped back.
"Mmm, ok," she shrugged and walked over to the wolf once more and poured water all over its body.
I whispered over to Jean, "Think she bought it?"
Jean nodded and looked over at her, "I think so, she doesnt seem like anyone with royalty, and she's certainly been in the wild for a while now."
"I hope so," I said as I looked over to the girl who got up and pulled the wolf over to us.
"Since I have two handsome gentlemen accompanying me today," she said as she brought the wolf over to us, "how about you help me?" she smiled up at us.
"I'm sorry miss but we have to get going, we have a long journey to go, no time to sit and chat," said Jean as politely as possible.
"Is that so... I was going to share the profit I will earn from selling this wolf to you, since it was this kind sir who lured them out here," she looked at the ground then slightly smiled.
"Oh uhm," Jean looked over at me with eyes that said we should help her, "We'll be happy to help, right Eden?"
"R-Right, we'll help," I said as she looked up.
"No, no, I shouldn't delay you further," she said as she picked up the wolf by it's head.
Jean grabbed the head as well and pulled it from her, "We insist. Eden, get the tail."
"Oh-ok." I grabbed the tail and the girl happily looked up at us.
"Thank you!" she said, "I'll quickly be back. Hold on."
The girl jumped over the rocks to get to the other side of the river. She went into the bushes and disappeared. I looked over at Jean who was looking over the other side of the river, awaiting her return. A few minutes passed and the girl reappeared from the darkness. She quickly hopped on the rocks and came to the other side. By her right hip, there was a small bag which most likely had coins and by her left, a slightly bigger bag. Her back compartment was filled with arrows and her left hand had the bow she used before.
"Let's go!" she eagerly said.
"Very well. We need to retrieve some things first," said Jean as he motioned over towards the cave.
"Ok," she said as she began walking ahead.
Jean looked over at me and held his side of the wolf while I held mine. We made our way to the cave and retrieved Jean's sword and the satchel that the castle provided us. The girl led us down a trail which supposedly would lead us to a nearby village where we can buy supplies and for us to spend a night. She talked a lot on our way there, as if she doesn't talk much. I guess she really feels lonely out here.
*HOURS LATER*
We finally made our way to a village as the night drew near. The sky above filled with many colors as the sun began to go down. We made our way to a nearby market where a seller bought the wolf for 300 coins. The girl kept her promise and gave us 150 coins.
"Well, now that our business is done, I guess I shall depart. Thank you again! Today was fun!" she happily smiled her brightest smile yet. It was so pretty.
"No worries. Thank you too," I replied while smiling.
"I'll see you soon... Your Majesty," she playfully curtsied and rushed away before I could say anything to her.
"Did she just say what I think she said?" I said slowly as I looked over at Jean, who was also shocked.
"Yup... she did," replied Jean who slowly turned to me, "I just hope she won't tell anyone."
"I doubt it, she doesn't seem to have any one she associates with a lot," I said. It was a relief but at the same time, it was pretty sad.
"I hope your'e right," said Jean as he began looking around.
There was a small tap on my shoulder and I turned around to see an old man holding something in his hand.
"Excuse me Sir. Are you Eden?" he asked.
"Yes Sir. I am," I answered. How does he know my name?
"Such politeness," said the old man as he smiled.
"Why, thank you," I slightly bowed and then faced him, he slowly brought the item in his hand up and held it towards me.
"Here, this for you. A young girl bought it and said to give it to you. She says it's a present."
I took the item from his hand and opened it, revealing a bright shining sword, "Wo-Wow, thank you so much."
The man smiled and slowly walked away. The sword in my hand was very beautiful and had little weight, perfect for arm swinging. I showed Jean and he looked at the sword with bright admiration.
"It's very pretty and it seems like a good model! It must have costed a fortune!" said Jean as he took the sword, "I wonder which gir-, wait, could it be... her?"
I quickly looked up and looked around for the girl earlier, but she was no where to be seen. I smiled as I took the sword from Jean, holding it closely. She may not be here, but I'm sure we'll see her again.
