Beautiful colors filled the sky before the darkness came and pushed the last few rays of light away. Jean and I decided to spend a night at a small inn, unfortunately, the only room available was a one bed room upstairs. We decided to pay for a night then we made our way towards the room that was assigned for us. When we opened the door, a cloud of humid mold filled our nostrils
"Oh my gosh, what is this? Do they not care for cleanness?" I retorted.
"Sorry your Highness, but welcome to my world," Jean said as he walks into the room.
I sighed as I closed the door behind me, "Sorry Jean, I'm just not used to all this. Also, its a big change, just last night I had a full size bed for myself... Now, I have a tiny bed in a small village...," I looked away then looked back at him, "But, I will survive and return to my kingdom one day. I will see my parents again, and I will become the king, just like my dad!"
Jean looked over at me and smiled, "Well your higness, the night is upon us, it's time we rest."
Jean and I did our own stuff then went to bed. Jean offered me the bed and he decided to sleep on a cot close to the camp fire.
Approximately three hours passed when I woke up to a loud bang. Jean sat up and quickly grabbed his sword from the side of his cot. I too got the sword that the girl gave me and I rushed over to Jean.
"What was that?" I quickly asked.
"I don't know, but whatever it is, it doesn't sound good," Jean said as he peeped out the window, "Stay here, I'll be back."
With that, Jean slowly left the room and went to check the commotion. He returned in a few minutes later, his face written with anguish.
"We must get out of here, guards of the evil King Vandal are looking for us, they are threatening the honest people of this village to reveal our whereabouts."
"But... the people don't know about us, they don't know who we are."
"True your highness, but they have drawings of you. Come, we must leave at once," Jean said while looking around for something.
"Understood," I said looking for a way to exit, "the only way out is the window."
Jean grabbed the blankets and tied them together with a tight knot, "This should be long enough," he threw the bottom half of the blanket down and tied it to the nearby table. He looked both sides out the window and back at me, "The coast is clear, you go out first, if they appear up here, I'll distract them. Run to the forest and stay hidden. When I get there, I will do our special whistle, reply so I can find you."
I nodded and quickly, but steadily, climbed the rope. Just as I was half way down, I heard the door of our room burst open, and in a few seconds, metal was clanking against each other. I hurriedly made my way down then I tugged the rope twice. I was about to run towards the forest when three guards appeared from around the corner.
"There! The prince," the fattest guard said while pointing at me with his sword.
"Oh snap," I mumbled under my breath as I held a defense position. The three guards began running to me and as they came closer, I started to notice the odds of me winning... They definitely aren't in my favor. I looked over behind me to make sure no one was there, and I quickly sprinted.
"Hey! He's making a run for it! Follow him!" Yelled one of the guards.
They followed me as I ran towards the woods, trying to catch up to me. They seem like decent runners but the armor definitely placed a burden on them. I continued running, the trees rushing past me one by one. The sound of twigs snapping behind me slowly decreased. After a while, I was flat out exhausted from the running. I quickly checked my surroundings to see if the guards were behind, closing my eyes to listen to any sounds.
SNAP
I quickly drew out my sword and placed it in front of me, looking around for anyone.
RUSTLE
The bush nearby slightly moved. Slowly, I backed away until my back hit a tree. A small furry creature appeared from underneath the tree.
"Oh it's just a rabbit," I mumbled to myself.
I slowly walked back the way I came, trying to make the least sounds as possible.
RUSTLE
Something is there, probably a creature
SNAP
That was a bigger snap than before. I quickly turned around and stared into the forest. The dense trees blocked most of the sun rays but it was still possible to see clear enough.
GROWL
Oh no... that doesn't sound good. I kept the sword straight and pointing outwards as I slowly moved backwards. I slowly looked over to a big bush in front of me.
Something was right.
I kept staring at it.
2 eyes were looking dead at me.
