The night she was born, Bellicent woke at precisely 3 am, ready to be fed. Crowley arose from his and Aziraphale's shared bed and carefully read the instructions on the back of the baby formula Anathema had given them. He sat at the edge of the bed, his daughter safely in his arms, and revelled at the precious slurping noise she made. This wasn't his first time feeding a baby, though he recalled that with Warlock he'd found those same noises nearly nauseating. Perspective he supposed.
After Bella was done he burped her, put her in a fresh nappy, and tucked her back in to her bassinet. Just as he was walking away, however, Bella managed to wrap one of her pudgy little hands around his index finger. Her grip wasn't stronger than any other baby's, but to her father it was unbreakable, and kept him firmly in place.
"Aw, look at you." Crowley whispered, "Positively adorable. My little hatchling."
With those words he watched as his infant daughter began to change, her body morphing into that of a tiny little snake, curled up around his finger. Crowley was so taken aback he made a noise and accidentally woke his husband.
Aziraphale sat up groggily, "What is it? What's happened?"
Crowley turned to face him, a look of wonderment on his face as he held up his finger with the little pink snake wrapped around it.
"Look at her!" He exclaimed, "Look at what she's done! Not even a day old!"
Aziraphale took a moment to squint in the dim light before flipping on the bedside lamp. His eyes widened at the sight of his serpentine daughter curled around Crowley's finger, her radiant, blue eyes shining.
"My goodness!" Aziraphale laughed aloud, "Oh what a precious little thing, she's done that all on her own?"
"Yes!" Crowley cried.
As Bellicent begins to take her previous form her fathers lay her down between them on their bed, and all at once she was a perfectly normal infant again. Crowley tucked her back into her bassinet once more, Aziraphale shut off the light, and the two father's lay together in bed, watching the bassinet until they could hear the gentle gurgling of sleep return to their daughter.
"Angel." Crowley said quietly, "I love you."
"And I you, my dear." Aziraphale chuckled, he kissed Crowley sweetly before shutting his eyes. Then after a second had passed he said "Have you always known that when you call me "angel" it sounds to everyone around us as a term of endearment?"
"Of course." Crowley said, Aziraphale could hear the smirk in his voice, "That's my favorite part of the whole thing. People hear it and assume they're watching gay lovers having a spat in the street."
"I'm glad you brought that up," Aziraphale said, "I was wondering if it may be a good idea for one of us to change form. There are some humans who are entirely put off by the notion of two men raising a child together, we may attract less attention if one of us were to take a more feminine role."
Crowley scoffed, "The opinion of humans could not matter less to me, Angel. Anyone uncomfortable with homosexuality is no friend of mine, and in certainly no position to comment on my parenting."
"No, you're quite right."
"That being said if you'd prefer me as a woman-"
"Oh, no my love, I adore you as a man. Anyway I was thinking I should try being a woman this time, seeing as you took the role with Warlock."
Crowley chuckled, "If you'd like to give it a try then be my guest. As long as you're here with me I don't care what form you take."
He was not expecting the much more feminine voice when Aziraphale replied "Good." Crowley opened his eyes to see a woman in the place of his husband, a gorgeous, curvy, woman with white blonde hair and blue eyes. She leaned forward to kiss him, before rolling over onto her other side.
"Goodnight, my love." Aziraphale said, his tone unmistakable even though it came from a woman's form.
Crowley lay still for a moment before returning the sentiment and rolling onto his back. He'd never seen Aziraphale in any other form but the one he'd always taken- apart from his short inheritance of Madame Tracy's body. This was sure to be most fun.
