I agree to everything, not worried about the DNA test; I know she's his father.
She starts towards the door, but stops short and runs her hand through her hair.
"Can I see him first? Before I leave?"
"Of course."
I lead her back to Chris's is room and quietly open the door.
He is in his Race car toddler bed, always a crazy sleeper, with him beautiful smile upon his face .
"He sleeps just like me." She laughs quietly.
I suspect he has a lot of her mannerisms, and I almost want to ask if she is a morning person and then blame her for it. He wakes up way too damn early in the mornings.
"He does look like me." She whispers in awe, once she has moved her hair from her face.
"He does," I agree. "He didn't always, though, I don't think. His features just slowly started to change as he got older."
Her phone buzzes again in her hand. She looks at it and curses under her breath.
"Fuck, I have to go. You'll be at my place tonight?"
"Yes."
"Okay, thanks. I- Uh- I'll see you laters."
"Laters." I giggle.
After Dinah leaves, I collapse on the couch.
Well, that did not go as expected.
"Mani !" Ethan comes rushing through the door. I note that he did not knock, and used his key instead.
"I'm here." I sit up so he can see me.
"Are you okay?" He sits next to me, taking me in his arms. "What happened?"
"Dinah just left-"
"She was here?!"
"Yeah, I'm not sure how she found us, but-."
"What did she want?"
"She wanted to meet her son." I tell him in an 'obviously' tone.
"Did she?"
"Not yet, he was sleeping and she had business to attend to."
"What's going to happen now?"
"Well, when Chris wakes up we're going to her apartment so they can officially meet."
"Is she going to take him from you?"
"She said she wouldn't. And I believe her."
"Are you sure? I know you were worried about it."
