I'm expecting a thing in the mail soon that will greatly improve my ability and motivation to do digital art. When it comes in, I'll probably redo the cover for Prison of Colors first, and then I'll redo this cover. If I feel like it... Haha...
Also, that is when I plan to do (finally) the OC drawing that I still have yet to give to Storm_Nightwalker because I will be able to make it much better quality.
Also, for anyone wanting to know, I thought I'd give you guys a little insight into Prison of Colors and Below the Canopy.
For Below the Canopy, there's a sort of overarching theme that I have for the whole series, but it differs book to book. First of all, there are three books planned, but I'm kind of finding it hard to actually plot plan for them since the only one I have planned out is the second one,, :') The theme for all three is grief and love, but each book explores a different kind of grief and love. The first book explores innocent kinds, the second focuses on the kinds that a mother would experience, and the third hones in on love and grief of a more mature mindset.
For Prison of Colors, it's a little bit of a different kind of thing. I really want to highlight things like racism and "picking sides". So, while Below the Canopy focuses on relationships and mental health, Prison of Colors is more about betrayal, a sense of not belonging anywhere, and fighting social norms. These sort of core concepts are really what inspire me to write and give me ideas for books. Often, with the progression of the story, the concepts get a bit lost, but I think for me the concepts serve more as writer's block deterrents. If I lose the motivation to write on it or don't know what to write, I sit back and brainstorm on those concepts. I find it really helps.
