Abby is lying in an hospital bed. She is gravely hurt on her arms and stomach; she has several bandages all over her body. Clarke is sitting at her mother’s, holding her hand. She seems thoughtful. She is hurt too, on her face and arms. Bellamy comes in, Clarke doesn’t notice him and stays focused on her mother.

Bellamy : You did this to her.

Clarke turns her head a bit at the sound of his voice, but not enough to see him. She seems tired, as if she’s already heard this phrase hundred times. Maybe she has.

Bellamy : You know, when you abandoned her at Mount Weather, along with Octavia and myself. In that mine, when you ran off with the rest of our friends, like cowards, leaving us to endure whatever fate the Mountain men saw suit for us.

Blank. Bellamy looks at Clarke, as if he expects her to say something. The latter continues to watch her mother, stoic.

Bellamy : *loosing patience* Clarke !

Clarke : What do you want me to say Bell ?!

Bellamy : I want you to understand what you did ! I want you to know who you’ve become.

Clarke : *sighs* It’s true, I know I have done terrible things to protect us.

Bellamy : Protect us ?!

Clarke : Yes ! Protect us ! There were hundreds of them against us. Most of our friend were badly hurt. We just couldn’t win this battle. So you’re right, when I saw that they managed to disarm you, I did abandon you three there because I saw an opportunity to get all of our friends out of there while they were tying you up. And besides, you escaped. Octavia is safe, and so are you and my mother.

Bellamy : How does that make it any better ?! I thought that we would fight for each other ! Remember that oath we made ?

Clarke : Of course I do. And I know I let you down but I do hope that you can forgive me for this, knowing I did it to save the many, people we both care about.

Bellamy : *sighs but stays quiet*

Clarke : And if you can’t… *hard tone*  Well, you can just stay away from me. I blame myself enough without someone doing it for me.

Bellamy looks at Clarke eye to eye. We can see the pain in his eyes. Clarke stares right back at him, without a blink. Finally, Bellamy turns around and leaves the room slowly, followed by Clarke’s gaze, still hard. As soon as the door is closed, tears fill her eyes as she looks at the door, expecting Bellamy to come back no doubt. But he doesn’t. After several minutes staring at that door, she turns around and goes back to her mother’s bed, tears falling off her eyes. She grabs her hand, silently crying.

Clarke : I can’t do this anymore… I… I can’t…

Tears stop her from finishing her sentence. But everything is already said.

First little fanfiction, hope you like it !

For those of you who know the series, the events that are mentionned here never actually took place, but I wanted to explore the relationship between Clarke and Bellamy a bit more, especially in this "I had no choice" kind of situation (cause that happens a lot in the story)
