Daizee stood on the patio of the burnt down house. Her skin felt hot at the memory of fire burning. She gripped the glass of scotch in her hand, as she heard her brother's footsteps come up to her. They both overlooked the valley that came up to once was Dita's house, but now was just a pile of rubble.
"Emily will be here soon with the new Agra-Park plans." Miguel said and Daizee nodded, "You okay?"
"How is Dita?" Daizee said, taking a drink of her scotch.
"She's. . . healing. Still struggling with some things."
"That's what happens when you almost get burned alive."
"She had a choice to escape but didn't. You. . .It was a grave mistake doing that to you. One that I will never be able to forgive myself for."
Daizee just shrugged, and kicked her black red bottom heel against a piece of rubble. The rest of the club was on a mission trip on the other side of the fence. Some were working in the warehouse, helping with the heroin distribution, others on a relief trip with Adelita. Bishop gave the female prospect permission to go with Miguel to the meeting about the Agra-Park. They had worked out a happy medium for Daizee to still prospect but also do her job for her brother.
"It's in the past. Besides, I know you stay making up for it in clothes and shoes. What more could a girl want?" Daizee bragged, looking down at her new shoes. Miguel just rolled his eyes and playfully shoved his little sister.
"These are the last of them." Emily said, making her way over to the siblings. Miguel led Daizee over to a table that they had set up in the middle of what used to be the kitchen. He sat down and Emily handed him the papers, "Contractor just walked me through it."
"Jesus," Miguel sighed, picking up the thick folder. Emily took her bag off and sat down next to him, as Daizee stood on his other side, "Why so many change orders?"
"We didn't know how much of the plumbing was destroyed." Emily said. Daizee looked around at the different investigators milling around the property, each one coming up with different estimates on how much it would be to rebuild the house, "The fire ruined all of it. Had to be gutted. All new copper."
"Like a phoenix." Daizee said.
"Creating a mythical bird probably be cheaper." Miguel added, and pushed the file back towards his wife, before grabbing his drink and standing up.
"I'll get these to the business office." Emily said and Miguel agreed, "Are you late?"
"More than likely." Daizee said, helping her brother put his coat on.
"Mexico?" Emily asked the siblings.
"Not sure."
"Can you let me know please?"
"Yeah," Daizee rolled her eyes and Emily's nagging. Since the kidnapping of Cristobal and Miguel telling her everything about the business he did, she's wanted to be more apart of it. Daizee just found it annoying, how Emily had weaseled her way into something she didn't even belong in. But Daizee knew that's how Emily got her way, getting involved in things she shouldn't be.
"Check on our mother?" Miguel asked, noticing the tension between the women.
"Mm-hmm." Emily agreed, and Miguel kissed her forehead, before leading Daizee out of the rubble. Marcus waited for them at the entrance of the house, and took them to the awaiting black SUV.
"Just heard from the DOJ. The Mercs picked up on the Intel. It's a go." He said to them.
"You talk to Potter?" Miguel asked.
