The first time was an accident, it happened when she was just seven years old. The Dunbars were at the local fair and Valerie being the curious little girl she was decided it would be a good idea to ride the tallest roller coaster. It wasn't. Perhaps it wasn't such an accident, considering that the amusement park worker allowed Valerie to get on the ride despite not meeting the height requirement, or the fact that her parents were alright with it, knowing the possible consequence.
Nobody wanted to believe that this could ever happen to their children, it was a nightmare that every parent dreaded. But Jenna and Philip Dunbar had to endure that nightmare. They watched the wagon containing five people, one of them being Valerie, separate from the rest of the ride just mere minutes before the rollercoaster crumbled to pieces.
