He sat in silence for minutes. Jungkook could feel the seconds slowly ticking by. The cold slab of metal chilled his skin and bones through his jumpsuit. The bright iridescent lights above him bothered his eyes. He tried closing them but could still see the light trying to seep in past his eyelids. His fingers itched and moved at his sides, wanting and needing to move as he waited. The monitors attached to his head placed small uncomfortable pressures onto his skin.
He does not know how long he had been waiting. They placed him in here and hooked him up to machines without explaining what they were doing. Jungkook no longer felt like questioning them. Even when they placed a needle and iv drip into him. The medicine in the bag was not open, they were waiting to give it to him.
He felt Yoongi, felt the familiar and welcoming pull of their bond, but Jungkook still felt empty. They had placed his demon in a separate room. They were only a few feet away, nothing that will bring any pain or discomfort to Jungkook. They were separated only by a thick concrete wall. But still Jungkook yearned for the demon's presence besides his. Jungkook tried distracting his thoughts. He tried not to focus too hard on the want of his demon. It often made the feelings worsen. Instead he forced himself to think of his teammates. Days have passed since their first meeting and since Yoongi revealed his proficiency in their language to them. Often, he has caught himself slipping into a pleased and joyous smile, remembering the absolute chaos that ensued afterwards. Though he still felt a sense of guilt over Taehyung passing out and slipping off the bed. The boy still sported a fading bruise on his side and upper chest.
But Jungkook must thank his demon for he has seen how this secret has brought them closer. He sees that his teammates now acknowledge Yoongi, no longer trying to pretend he was not in the same room as them. They were quick to accept him and to accept any help they could receive from him. He knows they are still putting on a brave face, he can see the terror and the fear of the unknown in their eyes when it lands on the demon. But it warms Jungkook's heart that his teammates are not letting this affect their opinions and motivation. Just as Yoongi trusts Jungkook's team because Jungkook trusts them. His team trusts Yoongi because Jungkook trusts him. It was complicated but in the simplest of ways.
They have only had the chance for one more meeting after that, two days prior. It was on a night Jungkook and Yoongi arrived back from their session relatively early. While Jungkook showered and changed Yoongi gathered the team in Jungkook's room. They discussed anything and everything that correlated with the situation that was currently haunting them. The discussion ended within minutes. They were still just as clueless as before. And Jungkook could not blame Hoseok for bringing up the legitimacy of it all, because at this point it feels as if they are running on paranoid instincts. Everything that had brought them to this belief the secrecy of Yoongi's presence and bonding and General Song's general reaction to it all has long since passed and nothing new as occurred. Jungkook could not even find faults in the research and experiments so far. They were intense and exhausting but they were what Jungkook had expected. They were simply trying to do their jobs as researchers and scientists and discover a phenomenon that has never happened before.
Their discussion quickly changed into a deep and personal conversation. Jungkook does not even remember how it occurred. But one minute they were discussing how everything from the dream until now were connected to Jungkook's brother. And the next they were sharing stories of their childhood and homes. Jungkook did not participate as much, adding random little snippets of his own every so often. His members did not mind, now that they know how trifling the memories are to Jungkook. But they were content with discussing it among themselves, bringing Jungkook into the conversation so he would not feel left out. But for the first time since the sessions had begun, since he had become a student in the pre-academy, most likely since his brother died, Jungkook felt like he was truly home.
