"I think these year's exam are going to be the reason of my death." Mew heard one of his friend, Lhong, said while they're going out of their building. It is the last day of their exam that indicates the end of the semester too.
"Finally, we're done. Who's up for a celebration?" Tum asked.
"Hey, I can't." Mew said. He wants to celebrate as much as his friends are but his father called and invite him for a dinner. His father also said that he is going to talk something important so he can't missed it or he'll be dead.
"Why? Is there something more important than celebrating after we survived this week?" His overdramatic friend Lhong said.
"Yes. My father called me. I think he is going to talk something important. Can't missed it." They are near the parking area and Mew can already see his car.
"Let's move the date then." Tum said.
"What? We can't! We need to celebrate it now. For those sleepless nights and stressed that we've overcome these past few days. I thought I was going to die for real. Thank god i survived and I'm still perfectly fine. So we need to celebrate that."
"Then you're going to pay?" Tum asked.
"In the other hand, let's just move the date." Lhong said quickly.
"Fuck. You're just after my money aren't you?" Mew said jokingly. Their friendship is over 10 years now since highschool so there's no need doubting that now. And not to mention that all his friends are from wealthy family too.
"Nope. I'm after the food and boost that you can buy with your money. So I'm not after your money at all. Food and money are two different things." Lhong said as if his making a great point.
"Whatever. I'm going. I can't afford to be late."
"Yeah. Bye. Don't forget that we need to celebrate as soon as possible okay?"
"Yeah." Mew said as he open his car.

It is already dark when the guard open the gate for him. When he came out of the car, one of the maid bowed to him and inform him that the dinner is already served and his father is already waiting for him at the table.
"Fuck." Mew just whisper to himelf. His father isn't that strict but his father hate it when he's late at dinner. Or breakfast, or lunch. Just ng family gatherings.

The first thing he saw when he came in the dining room is his father. His father is the person he admired the most. He's not only smart and great in everything he does. He is also the kindest man Mew ever known in his whole life. So he respect his father so much.
"Dad, I'm sorry. The exam ended really late." He greet his father like usual. He went to his father's seat and hugged him.
"Your timing is just perfect. Sit down." His father said gently. So Mew did.
Mew is super tired driving for an hour so when he sit down, the first thing he want to do is eat. He's fucking tired. So he's alredy eyeing all the food on the table. It's like a feast, he think.
"Should we eat dad? I'm really hungry driving for an hour." Mew said sheepishly.
"Sure. But before that, I want to introduce Gulf. That's when he look to his dad and the sit beside his dad, who's in front of him where he saw a little boy who's currently looking down the table.
He's tired. That's the most logical reason why he didn't noticed him right away.
"Oh. I'm sorry! Hi Gulf!" Mew greet the boy. The boy looked at him for a few second then looked down again. As if to ignore him.
Mew is just tired and hungry a while ago. In just a second, he's now closed to being pissed. He can't stand people who has attitude like that.
"He's going to live with us starting from now on. So treat him well."
"What?! Why?! I mean, who is he anyway?" Mew asked. He's not trying to be rude but he's surprised and he's not okay living with anyone, more importantly, a stranger. With an attitude like that.
"Gulf is my friend's son. He's like a son to me too. He's going to stay here for while. Didn't your semester ends today so you're not going to be alone here anymore."
"Dad, I've been alone in this house every summer for 23 years now and I'm not even complaining." Mere sounds stressed now. But he really is. This is ridiculous!
"You're not. But just so you know, he's a first year so spare some time to teach him too."
"What? Now I'm going to teach him too? How can a 14 year old passed as first year?" Okay. Mew said that sarcastically. Sure. He's surprised that Gulf is already a first year, again, he really look like 14 year old to Mew.
"No one said he's just 14 Mew."
"Sorry. Well. I'm going to eat now. I'm hungry for real."
While eating, Mew is stealing glances at Gulf. He didn't talk the whole dinner even muttered a word. Is he mute? Mew really wanted to ask but Mew thought better than that. So he just closed his mouth and satisfied his hunger for now.
