Calum has always wondered what happened to his dad. Any time he asks his mom about him, she always says, "He is no longer with us." She never actually tells Calum what really happened. The only thing she ever says about his dad is that Calum has the same exact wings as him.

Yep......Calum has wings. He sometimes wishes he didn't because he always has to hide them. They're always cramped when tucked under his hoodies. The only time he can truly stretch his wings is at home, or while he's flying during the night. He can't take off his hoodie in public either, so he's sweating all the time during summer. It sucks sometimes. The best part with having them is when he's flying. The only time he can fly is really late at night so no one can see him. When he flies, he feels best. He feels truly free. The wind blowing in his hair, the smell of the night air. He does love that part.

He gets out of bed, changing into his normal attire. A hoodie, jeans, and navy sneakers. He heads into his kitchen, seeing his mom making breakfast.

"Hey mom." Calum smiles at her as he sits down at the table. "Breakfast smells amazing, what is it?"

"Good morning Calum! I'm making pancakes. They're almost ready." She flips the pancakes, then puts them on two plates. Three for Calum, two for her. "There you go, son. Are you going to try to find a job today?" She sits down, digging into the delicious treats.

"Yeah. We really need some more money, so I'm going to find a job that hopefully pays well." He takes a bite of his breakfast. "Mmh this is really good mom, thanks." He speaks through a mouthful of breakfast.

"Your welcome. After breakfast, I'm going to go to the store to find some food for next week. I won't be back for about two hours, so you can look for your job while I'm out." She laughs at him, watching as he scarfs down the pancakes.

"Okay. That's what I'll do then." They finish their food, and his mom says her goodbyes before leaving. Calum grabs his phone, heading out too. He walks around the city, seeing 'help wanted' signs for restaurants and small buisnesses. He isn't interested in a job like that, though. He enjoys cooking, but the restaurants only need waiters and waitresses. He walks around for about an hour, and hasn't found anything. He's on his way back home when his phone goes off. It's a text from his mom.

    Mom-CALUM GUESS WHAT!!!

    Calum-What?

Mom-I FOUND A 'BODYGUARD WANTED' AD! WOULDN'T THAT JUST BE GREAT FOR YOU? IT PAYS WELL TOO! I'M ON MY WAY HOME RIGHT NOW WITH THE SIGN TO SHOW YOU.

    Calum-K

He hurries home, excited to see what she's talking about. He would really enjoy something like that, being really strong and all. When he gets home, his mom is already there. She stuffs the paper in his face, excitement pouring out of her. He reads the paper, liking the sound of it more and more.

"Okay mom, I'll call them and see if they're still looking for someone." He gets his phone out, typing in the number and calling them.

"Hello?" A man says on the other line.

"Hello sir, my name is Calum Reeds. Are you still looking for a bodyguard?"

"Yes we are, are you interested?"

"Yes sir I am. What do I need to do to get the job?"

The man gives him their address, telling him that he would come over the next night for dinner and an interview.

"Okay thank you sir. See you tomorrow." The man says bye, then hangs up. Calum looks back at his mom, who's crying.

"Mom! Don't cry, it's just a job." Calum laughs at his mom. She's always been an emotional one.

"I-I'm sorry, *sniff* I can't help it. My baby boy is growing up *sniff* and getting a job. A really good paying one too!" She looks at him with a tissue in her hands, hope rising for her and her son.

"Mom, I'm 18. I think I've already grown up." He smiles, hugging his mom.

"This is it, mom. Once I get enough money, we'll find a nice place to stay. We'll finally have enough money for things we want, not just for stuff we need."
