He loved her.

He cared for her.

But he couldn't fight for her.

Tobirama could only stare as his lover and brother walk down the street happily. His heart clenched.

His brother - Hashirama - didn't know of his feelings towards Mito. Hashirama didn't know that Tobirama found her first. That Tobirama loved her first.

But he won't destroy their world if Mito was happy with his elder brother.

Tobirama is selfish.

But he is also selfless.

He can bear the pain.

He will accept the pain.

Tobirama loved Mito but his brother loved her all the same. So he will stay in the dark while he watch the two in the light. He will be the door to their happiness.

He will gladly endure even if his heart  breaks. Even if it disintegrate into nothingness.

He won't insist on something that isn't for him. We can defy fate but fate only allow a few to defy it. He had a choice but he chose not to.

Tobirama smiled bitterly.

Yet until the world ends, he will only love her - Uzumaki Mito.

But staying in the dark had a risk. The shadows tempted him as he watched his lover and his brother.

The devil spoke with a wicked grin.

"Does it hurt?"-Madara - the demon of hate asked.

"Don't you love her? Don't you want to hold her close? Turn your pain into power and take what your heart desires. Using fear! Make them fear you and they shall bow down to your wants! Make them cower before you!"

A wide smile appears on the demon's face. A disturbing grin full of madness.

"No"-Tobirama merely responded. The bitter smile still present on his face, but with a hint of happiness. His red orbs never leaving the smiling forms of his beloved brother and woman.

"I won't destroy their smile. I won't replace it with fear. It's fine the way it is. So leave me alone"-he continued and the demon grunted.

"Even if your heart slowly breaks? It might not be now but someday, your pain will slowly consume you. Turn you into a demon, a monster. That's just how it is."-Madara said with recognition as if he had gone though the same thing, and he did.

Tobirama faced the being behind him and offered the demon a small smile.

"If such day comes, then.... "
