CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

I hesitantly turned around to face them, waved a wobbly hand, and squeaked a “Hi!” before turning my back to them again. I heard responses of barks, snorts and snarls, which I plainly ignored. It’s not like I could understand what they meant anyway. I will apologize to them later. They have an important meeting to conduct, in which I wasn’t needed.

So, I continued looking around. The ceiling was high. Up there was a complicated-looking yet lovely chandelier hanging above the spacious living room. It was bright enough to light up the whole room, which was saying something seeing that the curtains were drawn close. I noticed that the gaming systems weren’t here anymore, just the shelves of movies and video tapes. There were still a lot of couches but they weren’t used as of now, because the wolves preferred the carpeted floor. A fireplace wasn’t needed in here anymore because they installed a heater. I wonder where the kitchen was.

The door of the room where Hunter and the three went to earlier, opened and all attentions were now focused there. Now that I looked at it, it was a double-door. Probably so wolves their size could fit.

Hunter in his wolf form was the first one to step out, his blazing red eyes with its golden ring immediately fixating on me. He looked a little bit different compared to when I last saw him as a wolf. Well, come to think of it, this was just the second time actually.

His fur was still pitch black, but now with red tones and streaks that made him look more intimidating. The outer corner of his eyes has bright red lines that faded before it reached his neck. It gave an effect that he was shedding tears of blood.

He was breathtakingly beautiful.

His paws, a tuft of fur at the tip of his tail, and the ends of his ears were also red. The red tips of his fur along his neck and shoulders were brighter, resulting him to look like he was glowing.

I let out my breath that I didn’t know I was holding. Oh God, thank you for giving me such a beautiful mate.

Caleb was behind him, and then Aiden and Stefan behind their Beta. All three of them had their heads high and proud as they followed their Alpha. I glanced around the room and saw that every other wolves were bowing upon Hunter. Amazing. I had to admit, it felt good knowing that your other half was highly respected by many people.

Hunter barked, it creating a reverberating echo that made me shiver, making everyone to straight up and go to their supposed places, I guess. He then strode his way to me, which I didn’t understand why. Once he was in front of me, he licked my cheek and then nuzzled my neck. I hugged him in response, even though confused, stroking his fur behind his ears.

“I’ll go upstairs while you hold your meeting, alright?” I said.

Have you seen a wolf rolling his eyes? It was weird and creepy.

‘No, I want you to stay here and listen. This concerns you somehow and, you have something to say to them later, remember?’
