Chapter 9

Third person's pov

Athena was in her balcony, standing while looking at the sky. She was still in a state of shock. The door opened and Jacob came inside. He searched for Athena and saw her standing in the Balcony. He walked upto her and wrapped his arms around her waist like he always did. 'Hey beautiful.' He said while kissing her neck. But this time she didn't hug him back, instead he felt tears falling from her eyes. He turned her around and said, 'What happened Athena? Who made you cry? Please tell me sweetheart.' He said hugging her tightly to comfort her.

'Get away from me!' she said turning around pushing him away. He was shocked. 'What happened sweetheart?' he asked trying to wipe her tears.

'Don't touch me Jeremy or should I say Jacob Harrison!'she said and the expression on his face changed. 'You are the mighty, filthy rich Jacob Harrison,right?' I said grabbing his phone and showing him his own picture on Google.

'Love, let me explain.' He said in a pleading voice. 'Just answer what I asked, are you jacob Harrison?' she asked him.

'Yes, yes I am..... But let me just.... Hear me out.' but she wasn't ready to listen. 'You lied to me! You lied to me! I trusted you and you.....' she started saying. 'Love, let me just explain.' He said. 'Stop calling me love, stop all that, I am not your love. Let me go.' she said walking away. 'Where are you going?' he asked running after her. 'Away from you.' was all she said.

'Athena, you know i love you. Please don't go away. I can't...... Can't live without you... Please.' He pleaded. 'Hear me out.'

'There is too much going on in my head at the moment jere..... Jacob. It feels like this whole love was a lie.' she said. 'No, no it wasnt. I love you, I can't function without you.' He said to her trying to hold her hands and touch her face. 'I am sorry athena.' He said. 'No, I am sorry. I can't do this, not right now. Let me go.' was all she said and walked away closing the door leaving a sobbing jacob behind.

*Two weeks later*

Athena's pov

Life was back to the way it was, nothing had changed, at least I pretended that. I was back in my mansion with my dad. Today morning I was having breakfast when dad came in with a rather good mood. 'Honey, I was wondering if you and Jacob would join me for a lunch, you know with the engagement and all that.' He said. 'Dad me and Jacob are not together anymore and were never engaged.' I said to him in a monotone voice. Dad looked shocked. He sat down in a chair and asked me, 'What are you talking about?!' 'Me and Jacob are not together.' I said to him. Dad seemed tense and suddenly started hyperventilating. 'Dad, are you okay?!' I said getting up from my chair. Servants rushed in with medicines and we somehow took him to the bedroom.

Dad finally calmed down. 'Dad what happened?' I asked him. Did the news of me and Jacob affect him this much. 'Honey, its not about you greeting married to jacob or not its just that when it comes to his personel life he is a gentleman but when it comes to his professional life he is a ruthless businessman. He can make or break anyone. A few days ago he had come to me to talk about the merger. I thought you two were going strong and would get married. Honey, our company is not doing that well and your dad's health is not keeping up at all. Thinking about you and the company I signed the papers of the merger and.... And was very happy about it but now hearing that you two have broken up..... We don't know what he will do. Even if we cancel it, seeing his business attitude he will not stop until he cancels us out of the market.' Dad said.

'I don't think he would do that dad.' I said to him. 'How do you know sweetheart?' he asked me. 'I don't think he will do that.' 'The official announcement of the merger is today in the afternoon. He will most probably cancel it.' Dad said.

In the afternoon dad was resting in his room when I turned on the TV. In the news I saw, 'Biggest merger of the year, the harrisons and Williams have joined hands together!'

On the TV I saw jere... Jacob speaking,'Yes this is a big thing for us. It is our absolute honour to have this merger with them.' He said to the media who were asking him questions. 'We were actually hearing about a matrimonial bond between the two families. Is it true sir, you and athena Williams are engaged? One of them asked. 'First of all stop putting up rumours about my personel life and second this merger us strictly professional.' saying that he went away. I was confused. He did not react like dad said at all and went on to complete the merger with our company. Dad came down and said,'He went on with it! I can't believe it!

'Why you can't dad?' I asked him. 'Well honey, when he came to meet me I asked him about you two and all he replied was that he was handling it his way. He showed me his pictures with you and told me to not hassle you for anything and that you two were going at your own speed. He seemed pretty serious. Dad seemed fairly relaxed now but I knew one thing--I had to meet Jacob. Tonight. 'Dad, I am going to meet someone, after dinner.' was what she told him.
