Coraline is a film that was screenplayed by the famous American stop motion director, Henry Selick. He was the director of some various films like The Nightmare before Christmas in 1993 and James and the Giant Peach in 2006. It was the adaptation of Neil Gaiman's Coraline book that was published under HarperCollins Company on February 24, 2002. The famous author was an English author of short fiction, novels and films and he was born in Portchester, Hampshire, England on November 10, 1960. He also writes Stardust (1999) and American Dust (2001) and won many awards like Hugo, Nebula and Bram stoker awards. On 2009, this book became film under the hands of director Henry Selick. Hannah Fanning was luckily picked to be the voice actress of Coraline. At the age of seven, she became prominent in acting industry due to her performance as Lucy Dawson in the drama film I Am Sam in year 2001. She received Screen Actors Guild award at the age of eight and she was titled as the youngest nominee in SAG history. This movie has a type of dark horror adventure fantasy because of its effects and plot. Its settings was often shooted inside the house at almost daytime and midnight time. Due to its wonderful contents, it reaches third rank at the box office and got 7.7/10 star ratings in IMDb. I like this story very much because it is suitable for the modern kids who were born in 21st century. We all know that the world is progressive so as our parents and this movie will help the kids to realize how grateful they are to have a hardworking parents.

This film tells a story about the adventurous and hard-headed girl named Coraline Jones together with her family moves in at the Pink Palaces Apartments because of the job opportunity that her parents received. Due to their business, they don't have the time for Coraline. They can't be that attentive to her and they are not able to look after her. Coraline was an only child so she only plays all by herself. She also met Mr. Bobinsky, the guy who lives at the attic and trains his rats for his circus. Mr. Bobinsky wants to restore his circus. The two actress and also a fortune teller, Miss Spink and Forcible, who lives in the basement also became Coraline's friend. Also, she meets Wybie, the grandson of the owner of the apartment. Their first meet was full of creepiness because her neighborhood warns her that there is a danger ahead. Fast forward, her father told her to explore the 150 years old house all alone. She noticed the mystery little door in their living room and because of her curiosity, she asks her mother again and again to open the door. But it only turns out that the door leads to nowhere and only a wall is behind that door. When midnight comes, jumping rats appear and it seems that they are inviting Coraline to follow them. It leads Coraline to the mystery little door so she opens it. She was mesmerized to the fact that she witnessed. She met her other parents there who was very opposite to her real parents. They are very attentive to her and Coraline was very happy about it. But it is very odd that her other parents don't have eyes. Buttons were replaced to their eyes and it makes Coraline somehow frightened but she didn't mind it as time pass by. She narrates this experience to her real parents but they never bother to put attention to her so the protagonist always wants to be with her other parents. When Coraline was comfortable to her other parents, they invited Coraline to change her eyes to buttons so Coraline can be with them forever. What do you think did Coraline do?

This movie became famous because of it plot. Thanks to Neil Gaiman, he did a very great job. Every child that is experiencing the same situation as Coraline can help him cope up to the situation the he is in. This child-friendly movie will help them realize that they must be contented in every situation they are in. It will give them thoughts about the effort that their parents have exerted for them to have a better life.

The sound effects also help this movie rise too. The music director was very wise in choosing a best music because it helps every viewer to feel the mood that the movie wants to make the watcher feel. The way it enters in every event, it made the viewer's somehow guess what will happen next. It was also used to emphasize the eerie feeling and its dark horror genre that is really effective to the viewers. Overall, I want to commend the music director Bruno Coulais for doing a great job.

I conclude that this movie was suitable to everyone because of its latest conflict that it encounters. It emphasizes the conflict of the family inside the house and it must be resolved as soon as possible. It has a theme of 'Be careful on what you wish for' and it tells you to be contented and e happy on what you have in the present. I recommend this to all viewers whatever age you are in because this movie is really entertaining and valuable in every aspects of life. It can be applicable in every situation you are encountering for it emphasizes the courageous, independent and strong characteristics of Coraline.
