Dear Diary,
Today is the first day of my new life. I was bored at home. Stefan and Damon became the "fun police" and took away all my new toys. They said no human blood, so I took it anyways. I mean, who are they, to tell me what I can and can't do? No one. They aren't my parents. My parents are dead. So, I left.
Left Mystic Falls, left Virginia all together. They'd never suspect I left. But I still have no idea where to go.
So, I'll just play dead in the road of some empty highway, waiting for some stupid clueless human to come along. And be my new meal.
All my emptiness,
ElenaAs I lay on the ground, eyes closed, I can feel the rumble of something, miles away. Can smell the exhaust from it. Definately not a hybrid car. Too much pollution. And I have no idea who it is.
Perfect.
Not that it would matter if I did. New Elena. No worries. Not a care in the world.
Letting the world just fall away, I get myself into character. I lay flat on my back in this dark and seemingly cold night. Just before I close my eyes, I take a very un-needed deep breath and watch the vapor escape my lungs.
Here she comes
I can smell her thick type A B positive blood from here. I can almost taste the sweetness of it on my lips.
As the car gets closer, it slows down fast. 65 miles per hour... 50... 40... 30... 15... and zero.
Here we go
"Oh my god! Hello? Are you ok?"
The lady clipped and clopped in her heels, til she finally ran out of them. I could hear the friction, from her thighs rubbing together.
I could hear the thrumming of her heart, pounding her blood faster through her body, as it vibrated rapidly from head to toe.
But there was only one point of contact I needed.
Her throat
As the woman came up to her, she started to touch her and stopped. Almost dead in her tracks. Suddenly scared.
Her pulse began racing.
More so than before. She couldn't see Elena's face, but was still frightened. She'd never seen someone in the middle of the road before.
No car broke down...
No signs of a struggle..
Just a leather clad woman, with long dark hair, and streaks of red, laying perfectly still in the middle of the road.
"Miss? Excuse me, miss? Are you alright? Can you hear me?"
You could hear her knees lightly crackle, as she hesitated to kneel down beside her.
The woman, attempted to take Elena's pulse... but stumbled. Falling flat on top of her body.
"Oh my God! Oh my God!"
She pushed herself back up, and she mumbled apology after apology, toward the body without a pulse.
The woman ran back to her car for her phone. Nervously dropping it over and over.
She dialed 911
"911, what's your emergency?"
The woman gasped
"Yes, I'm in the middle of... Highway Y. Just outside of Wausau. And..."
As she turned around to see the body she was going to explain to the police, she saw that it was no longer there.
She felt her phone start to slip from her fingers.
Then she heard a whisper in her ears.
"Oh, no. Nevermind. There was nothing."
And the woman repeated her words.
Still in the shadows that covered the womans car. Elena closed her eyes. Taking in the essence that was..."What is your name?"
She whispered to her, as she handed Elena the phone.
"Jen."
That was Jen.
Elena moved close behind her, so she could feel her heart beating from her spine.
It echoed through her body as she felt it.
Her mouth began seething, as she craved the blood. The toxic, effervescence, that was Jen.
In the background she could hear Jen's stereo playing "Something I Could Never Have."
"Just a faded reminder of who I used to be."
Was the last line she heard as her teeth grew to their peak and her eyes reddened. Veins throbbing on her face from the hunger corrupting her body.
She latched on to her neck from behind. She drank and drank, as her eyes rolled back inside from the euphoric aroma and savoriness of the warm blood gushing down her throat.
As the body began to dangle towards the ground, Elena let it fall. Not caring at all, she left it right where it was. Put Jen's phone in her pocket, and drove off in her car.
Wiping her lips and then licking her fingers, she savored the last few drops like they were the last drops of water on earth in a heat infested desert.
She flipped down the mirror and checked her make up as she pulled into the furthest hotel in town. It was just before dawn, and the sun was coming up.
She looked down at her hand, at where her daylight ring was. Excited to see where this new life would lead her.
Little did she know, there was another evil out there. Much more devious, much more cunning, and much more hungry than she was.
And he was watching her...
