"Okay Lizzie, we're here! Are you sure you're alright with going inside by yourself?", Caroline asked, watching Lizzie get out of the car and grab her luggage, as she stayed in. "Mom, I'm literally 21, I can handle this. There's no need to make anything awkward. Also, making an entrance all by yourself is way more mysterious. I'll be giving the students the perfect first impression of me," Lizzie said, shutting the door after she was done.

Caroline rolled down the window, stopping Lizzie from walking further onto the domain: "Alright, wonderful, now please don't forget to regi-" "Register myself at Headmaster Saltzman's office, I know," Lizzie cut her mom off. Caroline sighed and smiled softly: "And what do we say to him?" Lizzie rolled her eyes and crossed her arms with a look of boredom on her face. She spoke in a monotone voice: "Good day, Headmaster Saltzman. My name is Elizabeth Forbes. My mom, Caroline Forbes sent me here 'cause she's getting too old to take care of me and I don't have a dad, so yeah, here I am."

"Lizzie, honey, you're going to love it here, I promise. I heard that the girl that gives tours around the school is really friendly... and pretty, too, so you don't have to feel embarrassed as you walk around the school with her," Caroline spoke, trying to convince her daughter to try befriending her. The woman knew more about this girl than Lizzie did, since the young tour guide was also her daughter. She hadn't seen her in years, only in pictures through Alaric.

Caroline's words caught Lizzie's attention, even though she acted like she didn't care. "Maybe you could try being nice to her? You guys might get close?" "Mom, you're being all... suspicious about this, I'm going inside," Lizzie spoke, now curious about this girl, who seemed to be peculiar.

After finally escaping her mother's claws, Lizzie walked through the school, with a mask made out of attitude on. She paced directly to Headmaster Saltzman's office to register, after dropping her luggage off at a certain gathering spot, like agreed with her mother.

When she knocked on his office door, an energetic voice instructed her to come in. After she did, her eyes met twinkling, grey ones. The man who those belonged to, rose from his chair.

"Ah, you must be Elizabeth Forbes." Lizzie simply nodded, a soft smile toying at her lips. The Headmaster seemed to be less formal than she imagined. Maybe there was hope for this school to not be so bad after all.

"I've been waiting for your arrival! Welcome to the Salvatore Boarding School, I think you might just grow to like it here," he winked in a kind, non-creepy way and offered her his hand to shake. "Alaric Saltzman, but you can call me Headmaster or Mister Saltzman or... whatever feels comfortable to you, I truly don't care." After a firm, short shake, he added: "Uh, is your mother here, too?"

"No," Lizzie cleared her throat, "she isn't, I told her that I'd like to make an entrance on my own. I, myself believe that a first impression is very  important, and what worse than walking inside of a new school with your mother next to you, ranting about being responsible," Lizzie cringed at the thought, which made Alaric laugh.
