CHAPTER V
surprises.

What...the actual...fuck?! You were currently looking at your absolutely wrecked car. How could this have happened?! Without me noticing?!? You looked around for the cause of this travesty, my poor car! It didn't take long to notice the large slash marks on your —absolutely shredded— tires and doors. Did Barry do this? Why would he do this? You then spotted footprints— rephrase that, paw prints in-bedded into the thick snow. Multiple sets of paw prints, leading into and out of the woods, some going around the small cottage and even...to your front door.

You followed the tracks to see multiple chips and scratches on the door. Breath heavy as puffs of hot air fade into the cold weather. Hands shaking, knees weak. Your mind scattered as you processed the information. Okay, okay. So basically, from the looks of it an entire pack of wild wolves tried to break into my house and for some reason wrecked my car. Yeah that's fine. A pack of wild wolves just tried to break into my house!— Your head was spinning, heart pounding in your chest as your brain couldn't possibly process this information before you passed out.

a few moments prior.

You rummaged through the cabinets of your kitchen as the wolf began napping on your carpet. To think you would have had a giant canine as a companion. Always thought you were a cat person, hm. You open and close every cabinet and drawer, seeing what you needed and what you had. Writing down extra things for the trip tomorrow. It would be devastating to forget something essential, probably not making another trip for months!

Scribbling onto an old used piece of paper, you see something from the corner of your eye. Through your kitchen window you see your car, where it's usually placed. A suspicious feeling pricks at your mind, making you peek out further. You gasp. The tires flat and deflated, pieces of the tough rubber scattered against untouched snow.

You bolt out the door, startling Barry from his slumber. Dashing towards the back of the cabin, the sight before you absolutely crushing. The paint job was wrecked, tires shredded like cheese, doors dented and chipped as the entire car tilted to one side.

currently.

The wolf sprints out of the house at your distressed and frightened state. Surprised you managed to run so quickly. As he stops to the back of the house, where he was just minutes ago. He spots you laying limp against the soft white snow. Alert and alarmed, he runs to you. Hearing a steady heartbeat in your chest and a steady breath.

Pushing and nudging at your head in an effort to get you conscious. Confused as to what had frightened you so badly you passed out. Even trying to pull at the collar of your sweater. No movement. He just couldn't get you up. Before he could try again, he froze.

Ears twitching as he hears muffled, almost silent, shuffling around. Eyes darting around the surrounding wood, spotting no movement as the sounds continue. A bad feeling crawling up his spine. Quickly, he managed to get you onto his back and thankfully, you left the door open from the shock of you running out of it. He dropped you as gently as he could back onto the carpet from before and sprinted out the door. Closing it shut.

He scouted the area where the scent was the strongest, dashing from place to place, trying his hardest to find whatever was lurking so close to the area. Eventually, he had realised he was going in circles.
