CHAPTER X.
turning. It didn't take long before they reached the small den, his used-to-be home. A simple little cave hidden behind a large fallen tree. A narrow opening to the cave almost covered in snow that he had the dig out. Let's just say the space was rather...rustic?
Yes, rustic, let's go with that. A pile of bones sat on the floor along with some fire wood, a few spiderwebs beginning to spread, and a loose pile of mostly dead leaves in the corner he used to lay on at night. This was gonna be rough.
He was gonna have to clean up the place first off, and have to go hunting for food and herbs to help her during the transition. He sighed, as a hot puff of air flowed through the air. Maybe I should leave this to little ol' 'Barry'...
The thought was dismissed instantly as he laughed at his counterparts little nickname. Maybe after all of this she'd give him a nickname too. What would she call him, he wondered. It was a nice thought, but he has many things to worry about at the moment.
Taking care of her during transition, teaching her about werewolves and such, and 'take care' of the other wolves. They really loved making their life a living hell.
Before he could get too lost in his thoughts, he placed you down on the dead leaves. There weren't any fresh leaves to replace them because of the frost-bitten winter so, he laid the duffel bag under your head as a temporary makeshift pillow. Laying your winter jacket atop you as he couldn't light a fire currently.
With you settled in the cave, he began the cleaning process. Picking up the stray bones and charred sticks, using one of the bones to clear the spiderwebs. He swiftly buried the bones and sticks before going to collect more. For now, a few fallen branches and leaves will do.
Once he dropped off the leaves and branches in a pile, he sets off back to the cottage for extra supplies. Although Damen grabbed most of your things, the duffel could only hold so much. In a rush, he had only grab clothes and medical supplies. He completed forgot to grab a pot to boil water and a blanket to keep warm. Idiot.
Previously, Damen never needed much to keep warm since his body was accustomed to the blistering cold. And he would either make a days trip to the stream far off or find a plant that hold drinkable water. But, in your condition you wouldn't make the days trip and the plants grow in enemy territory.
As much as he would've loved to snuggle up to you again in his wolf form, he would have to wait quite awhile before they could shift again. He was on the verge of turning wild and feral. (a/n: Imagine a cool-down period)
Damen you idiot! You should've told her sooner instead of endangering all of us! What if you'd lost it? You could've eaten her instead!!
He knew there was no point to scolding him now since he basically was unconscious but, he tried. Ivo ran as fast as his legs could carry him it was odd to be on two legs after so long but, the wind blowing through his hair was euphoric.
Albeit he couldn't indulge in the feeling for too long. He had to be on guard with the wolves still round, aside from his feet crunching against the snow he didn't hear anything. Excluding the sound of critters scattering. Even so, he wanted to make this quick. Anything could happen to you without him there. An actual wolf could wonder in locking for rest, maybe a big cat, hell maybe the bear he fought would come back for revenge!
