people like me

people like me don't have hearts full of fluff and fairytales

        (our hearts are stitched together with cloth scraps of cold reality)

people like me don't have a mind that relaxes

        (our minds burn with a passion that cannot be blown out)

people like me don't have bodies that are clean and made of porcelain

        (our bodies are dirty and made of steel and titanium)

people like me don't have opportunities handed to them on a silver platter

        (our opportunities are thrown at us like crude bones from leftover meat)

people like me can't float through life with the support of money and people

        (our lives are lived working our hands to the bone)

people like me don't have society-like standards

        (our standards are seen as rash and ridiculous)

but people like me succeed

        (and i suppose that is all that matters)
