Tanuki's POV
It all started when I had discovered a dark secret about my brother. He and I were living together, our parents were deceased at the time. We had to stick together on our own, since they died when I was only seven years old. We survived off of the food the kind people offered us, and most of the time we would get asked things such as 'Where are your parents?' and 'Are you okay?'. We never really associated with some people though, because you can't necessarily trust everyone you see.
After I had turned fourteen, my brother was only eleven when I had obtained a job at a local coffee shop. I would usually do the mopping, or cleaning up after customers who had left. I wasn't paid very much, but I gathered what I could and fed the two of us. I remained with that job for quite a while, until I was nineteen. There was a war my brother had gotten caught up in, because even though he didn't have a 'lovely' childhood, he knew it was right to fight for the greater good. I had went to check up on him, when I heard that many soldiers were wounded, I ran as fast as my legs would take me to the area of the conflict. There I saw him, my dear brother Kento, lying in the grass with blood splattered on his clothing. I rushed up to him in a panic, feeling tears stream from my eyes. I checked his pulse frantically, feeling nothing.
He was dead.
I remembered clutching my chest, as if my heart had shattered into millions of pieces. The only family I had left had five bullet wounds in his chest.
But it wasn't over.
He had opened his eyes, staring up at me. My breath hitched, and I leaned forward, hugging him tightly despite the battle going on. "Don't leave me ever again, Kento..." I spoke solemnly, my voice was breaking. "I won't. I love you brother." He responded.
"I love you too."
