"Thank you."
"You're welcome."Alexis smiled at the family she had just finished serving. It's courteous people like that, that makes her hate her job as a waitress less. She was about to go and retrieve another order, but stopped in her tracks. Something feels.. odd.
Almost feels as if she's being watched.
She scopes the restaurant until she is synced with the gaze of a man. Alexis kept their eye contact as she observed him. Tall. black, curly, fluffy afro. Probably in his early 20s. And... wearing a neck warmer despite the fact that it's hot.
Being the bold person she is, she pulls out her notepad and pen and heads over to the man. "How may I help you?" She asks him, ready to take down his order and get away this creepy--but strangely attractive--man. "I've already ordered, belle," he tells her. She observes him, but can't see anything but a man. He's hard to read. Obviously French, she can tell.
"That's not my name," she assures him, "my name--"
"Is Alexis," he finishes her sentences looking at her name tag.
"You're very observant."
"And what makes you say that?"
"Well you were watching me from across the restaurant. Why?"
"Have a seat."Alexis looked back and forth between him in the seat. She was on the job, and if her boss caught her even looking like she was 'hanging out' and not working, she could be serious trouble. "Make this quick," she says taking a quick seat in the booth, "I haven't got all day."
"It will only take a second," he reassures her. His words made Alexis wonder if whether or not it can wait, but decided to listen anyway.
"No matter where I go, I always seem to see you. You! I can see your personality, like how you punch people for disrespectful gestures and how you're loyal to your friends. I've heard about you. You're well known around these Columbus parts." Alexis nodded her head. Even though she had never seen him on the street before, she cannot judge; she sees people all the time who never see her or even bother to look her way. "So... what have you heard?" She asks.
"Rumors."
"Like?"
"Like how you beat up a teacher outside of school for purposely failing your best friend because they didn't like her."Alexis chuckled a bit.
"That's not a rumor."
The man smiled a coy smile. "The Mafia could use more people like you."
"That what?" She asked, highly confused.
He pulled a card from inside his jacket. He put on the table and slid it across from her on two fingers. "Contact me when you're ready to change your life... belle." He left the table. Alexis studied the card, and by the time she looked up, he was no where in sight. Probably blended with the crowd.
Still confused, and with a decision to make. The information on this card could change her life for the better..
or worse.
