Ready Set Go

Last night was intense. Mom went to jail. Sister almost taken away from me. Started my GED testing. Failed. Today Gee is giving me a free day off so I can start job hunting. Lyn-Z is helping me get ready for any interviews I might get.

One place I stop by really catches my attention. Jeans Auto Repair. I stop in and ask for an application and the guy behind the counter, who is kinda hot by the way, looks at me and smirks. "I dont think it's fit for a girl as cute as you."

I look him in the eyes and say "try me"

He looks me up and down "ok here's the app" as he hands it to me I hear a girls voice from the back "Eliot!! Help!!" His eyes get wide and he runs to the back. I follow him and I see a familiar looking girl being held at gun point. She's crying and the man holding her has a cigarette in his mouth.

"Kyra!!" Eliot yells he goes to help her and the man turns the gun on him. "Please. She's my sister ill-" That's when I realize, that's it clicks. She's one of my sisters good friends.

"Take me" I interrupt. The man stares at me "what did you say?" He asks confused. Why does his voice sound familiar? "I said take me instead." "Get your nose out of where it doesn't belong" I put my hands up and take a step closer to him.

"She's like what, 15? Im 3 years older than her." I take another step "I can cook, and clean," another step "and I'll come without a fight." Another "I'll stay willingly. I'll be your personal slave. Which ever kind that may be." Soon I'm close enough that I can reach out my hand and grab kyra. He lets her go and as soon as I pull her out of his clutches he grabs me.

"You can't take it back once you make up your mind. Are you sure little girl?" Who is this dude? "Yes. I'm sure" I look at Eliot as he holds his sister tightly, wiping her tears, and telling her everythings gonna be ok. He looks at me and gives me a thankful look. I nod in response as the man starts draging me away. Krya goes to run after me but Eliot holds her back as she screams. "Leave her alone!! Don't take her!! She did nothing wrong!!"

As I'm being pulled back to a black van, everything seems to be going in slow motion. Kyra fighting against Eliot, the van door opening up, me getting in, the van pulling away, Krya falling to her knees as the van pulls away after chasing it down the road. I try not to cry, feeling like I let my sister down, and knowing I will probably never see her again.
