"Miss Angel!" Sir yelled yanking my ear buds out of my ears
"Sir?" I asked back
"Why were you not listening?" My mean teacher demanded
"I was" I responded earnestly
"Then what's the answer to my question?" My teacher asked smirking
"Uhh" I started.
"next time listen" Sir grumbled. My teacher wants to get me kicked out of the school. Probably because I am not your typical '13' year old girl and I have a Monkey as a pet. I was born blind after all. I don't listen to the teacher, I learned everything centuries ago. Not like he can expel me when my Mrs wolverine pays him. Mrs wolverine is the person i have been living with for the past month, although I always go home every night and come back before her daughter Livvy is up. I live with them because my twin and I need Livy to come to the vanishing island with us.
"Ashlin, you have got to listen" a voice whispered beside me
I didn't look to see who it was (looking would be pointless) I already know. It is Lysine, my monkey. She is sitting on my shoulder.
"Mmm" I mumbled
Ya, I am talking to a monkey. I can talk to her because she is a living thing. I can do much more but we can only do it at night or else it hurts many people..
To fully introduce myself, my name is Ashlin Angel. I can talk to any living thing including all animals, my twin can tame every animal.
I don't have a Dad or a Mom but I don't mind. I live with my twin Aysha, my monkey, Aysha's tiger Kassala and my step sister and all the others on the vanishing island. I have one real, living family member, my twin, but my mom and Livvy don't know her. the thing is, Livvy and my mom are not actual my family. one of my good friends brainwashed them to think that I am part of there family. this is because Livvy belongs in a place called the last ever after. yes I know, stupid name right? we just call it the vanishing island. all the teenagers that have gifts (you call them powers) belong on the island. it is the only safe place for us.
Livvy's full name is Livvy wolverine. She is the best. She is always at the hospital with Mrs wolverine. They're the bosses. Anyway, after that awful day of school, my best -and only- friend Mythique came over to my house. Mythique knows that I can talk to any living thing I told her a long time ago but now, her and Livvy must come to the vanishing island. time is running out.
At my house Livvy and My Mrs wolverine where already home, waiting for me and Mythique.
"Livvy, you need to come too" Mythique stated.
"Ashlin, Livvy knows!" Lysine hissed
"Shh" I whispered "Don't worry Lysine, I already know"
"what?" My Mrs wolverine, Livvy and Mythique demanded
"Nothing. I'm just talking to Lysine" I responded innocently
"Let's go to my room" I finished
"Sure" Mythique responded
"I'll lead the way" Livvy said
As we walked down the hallway -Lysine was whispering to me, telling me where to step, as always- Mythique asked about a painting on the wall. The painting is as big as me. I could easily stand in between the frame. The painting was of tiny cottages surrounded by a dense forest.
"Where is this?" Mythique asked innocently
"I don't know, the painting seems to change every day. Sometimes there is kids there. One of them is always some boys, then there are some girls, one is always riding a tiger.. that girl looks identical to you Ashlin sometimes in the middle of the night there is a bright light coming from the back of the forest" Livvy trailed off glancing at me -says Lysine-
