"Isn't this too excessive?" I asked Merlin. After finding his quest to get me a dress, Merlin had taken me straight back to the inn. He wanted to be responsible for my 'transformation'...so to speak. And I insisted that Mary joined. She had already been sponsored a dress and was in the other room finishing her hair.

Merlin raised his brow at me. "Have you seen a royal ball?"

I pursed my lips and tilted my head.

"Stupid question," Merlin ducked down to fix the last rim with his magic.

"It's not going to vanish by midnight is it?" I asked him.

Merlin frowned. "What kind of question is that?"

"No reason," I responded and grinned at myself. I loved the red and absolutely adored the flowery patterns with red sequins embroidered on. I felt royal and thrilled. Even if this was a dream, it was possibly going to be the most exciting and amazing night I'd ever have. Might as well cherish it while it lasts.

"Now...the hair," Merlin tapped his chin.

"I like it straight..." I responded.

"Then, how bout this to pin in...." Merlin gave me a small white flower jewel.

"Wow..." I smiled.

"Now let's see if..." Mary walked in and gasped. She wore a stunning emerald green dress with glitter designs, but she could not stop gaping at me either.

"You look stunning..."

"And so do you," I squealed. "I'm so glad I woke up for this..."

"Me too..." Mary took the pin from Merlin who was grinning all the way.

"I best get back to Arthur...one of the others are picking you up soon...and escorting both you to the royal ball..." Merlin was about to leave.

"Thank you...Merlin, I really appreciate this..." I said sincerely.

"You're very welcome," Merlin answered. "You look beautiful. I hope you steal away all the attention from Rachel and the Royal Pain."

I laughed along with Mary, who proceeded to pin the flower in my hair.

"So...from a camp to a ball...I don't mind a trade..."

"Yeah, along with all the other deadly combinations," I added. I grabbed her hand. "Thank you...for always having my back..."

"I could say the same," Mary winked.

We waited a good twenty minutes, which felt like an eternity with all the excitement. The door finally knocked and Mary opened the door.

"Ladies, I've been asked to escort you two to the ball," Dean Winchester walked in. I must say, he did clean up well. His clothes were tight-fitting, and really tailored to the T. He winked at Mary then his eyes fell on me.

"Woah...nice, Merlin is indeed a master and a wizard..." he grinned. He glanced again at Mary. "I must say, I am honoured to be escorting the fairest ladies of them all." He offered both of his arms to me and Mary. We each linked and walked outside to a carriage.

"Wow..."

"Fairytale vibes much?" Dean winked as he helped us in.

The chariot ride was short and sweet and we arrived at the front entrance of the castle. Dean helped us out again and started walking us through the hallway. My heart stopped in its tracks as I saw Geralt of Rivia, talking to the one gentleman. His hair was neatly combed, half-up, half-down, and he wore a silver embroidered shirt and pants.

"Oh my," Mary softly gasped.

Geralt gave us a quick glance, then back at the gentleman, but quickly returned his stare. He raised his one brow, but his face remained unreadable. He approached us.

"Good evening," Mary said and gave a quick curtsy. I nodded at him.

"Evening," he responded and looked at Dean.

"Taking care of them I hope,"

"Oh, yes, but I believe it is better if we can escort one lady down the stairs each...might make for a better image," Dean responded.

"Indeed," Geralt looked at me and my heart skipped a beat.

Mary clung tighter towards Dean and looked at me. Evidently, she was quite intimidated by the Witcher, and could I blame her. I loosened my grip on Dean and he walked ahead. Geralt nodded.

"Beautiful..."

"You clean up nice yourself," I said and a small smile lingered on the witcher's lips.

"Shall we?" Geralt offered me his arm and I linked to it. He was so tall and towered next to me. He and I headed to the ballroom. I gasped as we entered. The ballroom was lit up with candles everywhere, including a huge chandelier in the centre.

The musicians were placed in the corner out of the way, but they were actively busy and I saw people on the dance floor. I saw Rachel dancing with Arthur, and Derek was busy dancing with the princess. Dean and Mary were also there, and I smiled at her eager face. There were two thrones at the very end, one occupied by the King, the other was empty. A part of me wondered what happened to the queen.

We walked down the steps and I spotted Brad, who was grinning at me. I grinned back and saw the other students mingling amongst the eats and tables. Some were sitting and others spectating the dancers.

Geralt let me go and bowed before walking away. I frowned and shook my head. I was being silly again. He was obviously still being aware and alert for our protection. I headed towards the food table.

"Would you like to dance?"

I turned around and smiled at Merlin. "I'd love it..." I accepted the hand he offered me. He spun me and led me to the dance floor. I was beaming as he leads me through the steps. "I'm not too good at this..." I warned.

"Nonsense, don't sell yourself short..." Merlin spoke. He twirled me and lead me smoothly.  I heard a few gasps and a thud. I looked around to see that Arthur had accidentally bumped into one of the other dancers. His eyes met mine, but he quickly pulled Rachel back in and carried on with his dance.

"I think you've successfully distracted the Prince of Camelot..." Merlin chuckled and I laughed back.

"Nonsense..." I shook my head at the thought.

"Are you saying I wasn't good enough with my choice of dress?"

"Of course you were," I quickly responded. The song was done quite quickly. Merlin bowed.

"Thank you for this dance,"

I nodded and returned to Mary who was squealing. "He's such a good dancer, Dean...so smooth..."

"Sounds like you have a crush," I said.

"Oh, maybe..." Mary bit her lip then turned to me. "I saw you dancing with Merlin..."

"Yeah, he was kind enough to ask me..." I said.

"With how you look, you're going to wear out those shoes before the end of the night," Mary said. "I should have gone with red...wasn't that your mother's favourite colour?"

I nodded sadly, memories of her suddenly dawning on me. My mother always wore something red, no matter what. Red lipstick, red shoes, shirts, dresses, or something of the kind.

The next song began, and I turned to look at the tapestries. My heart skipped a beat as another hand tapped on my shoulder. I was scared to turn around to see who it was, but curiosity got the better of me. Whoever it was, evidently wanted to ask me to dance, and I was really hoping for it to be someone I know...
