Welcome to the story that you may recognise from my previous attempt. I have aged much more sense then and have decided to remake it so here you are. Enjoy.
Max groaned as he heard the annoying beeps of his alarm clock. He sat up and turned it off as he rubbed the sleep away from his eyes. He checked his phone as he got out of bed and then gasped.
Today was the day he had to go to the towns asylum to 'foster' a patient. He had signed up for this unwillingly. His best friends, Sky, Ross, Jim and Barney forced him to house this patient.
Though, he had to admit, he was a little excited to not be by himself in his house. Even if it was only for two months.
And besides, Max thought as he made a bowl of cereal to eat, it said that if the patient could function properly without incident they may be able to rejoin society.
Max smiled at the thought. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. He quickly finished getting ready and left to get to the asylum. Once he got there he parked and walked up to the gates.
The gatekeeper looked at him and smiled before giving him paperwork to fill out and asking him questions.
"So you're the one scheduled to pick up the patient today?" She asked. Max nodded in response and she checked to see who he would be getting.
"So it looks like you got Jessica... Fyre... Oh..." She seemed to look sad at that. Max was genuinely confused but also surprised. My new guest is a girl? Oh the guys are going to get a kick out of this.
"What's wrong? You seemed upset reading her name off." Max asked, genuine concern laced in his voice.
She sighed before replying, "Yeah it's just that Jess has been in here since she was a tyke with her brother but he got adopted when they were ten.
"Since then, because of the program, poor girls been in and out of the hospital. Something always seems to go wrong with her visits and they bring her back or she comes back.
"She's a really sweet young lady, amazing manners and great talent. It's a shame. Anyway, the director is waiting just inside those doors. He'll take you through through to her and let you know anything that can be done to make her comfortable and what to avoid. Have a good day!"
Max smiled at her and after thanking her and returning her favors and walked through the door.
The man that greeted him was of average height and looked to be in his mid-thirties. He had dark hair with gray peppered through it and had a comforting smile. He greeted Max with a handshake.
"Good morning Mr. LaPlume. My name is Dr. Noreyma. It's nice to meet you. Now I have you down to take our longest living resident. I have hope that this will be the last time she will be leaving. If you have any questions I'm all ears."
Max actually did have a couple of questions. "Um yeah I do have couple actually. The guard at the gate said that I had a woman named Jessica who's been in and out... Can I ask why she's been here so long?"
Doctor Noreyma smiled sadly." Unfortunately that is not up to us to say but I will tell you about her if you like." Max nodded, he would like to get as much information about her as he could before he brought her into his home.
"Alright. Well her name is Jessica Aphmau Fyre. She is twenty three years old and has been with us since she was five. She has an identical twin brother but he doesn't live here anymore. He was moved to the orphanage and adopted."
Max decides to quickly toss in,"What's his name if you don't mind me asking?" The doctor just sighed.
"I wish I knew but she's been here longer than almost any of the staff and anyone who was here when she got here and still works here won't say anything. She won't say anything either but we still have high hopes that she will be able to leave this time."
