The dawn was almost outdated when my eyelids opened. My eyes burned, but my head felt much better. The sleep ameliorated my headache. I looked around in the room and found solely myself in it. I snatched a glance at the clock. There was absolutely no time to attend the first lecture. However, there were still a few minutes left for the second lecture. I decided to attend it, because there was nothing to do in the room but sit idle. I threw my bag across my shoulder and headed off. There was pin drop silence in the hallway.
I quickly entered my class. Luckily, I was there just in time. My eyes hardly opened, but I managed to pass the tedious lecture with my eyes open.
___________After the last lecture, I decided to eat something later because my head still hurt. It felt like someone dropped a thousand needles in my skull. Vague flashbacks of the previous night materialized in my mind when I walked through the lawn. I felt much better, but I was still curious. I turned the doorknob. It was locked. I pulled the key out of my pocket and opened the door. I placed my bag on my bed and wondered whether they were having another clandestine meeting, like they did last time, unbeknownst to me.
I went over to Cindy's room. It was also locked. I knocked the door a few times, anticipating Tyrese or someone to come out. But no one came out. Furiously standing in-front of Cindy's room, I called Tyrese. My blood boiled as the dial rang. Tyrese picked up at the fourth dial.
"Hello", he said, voice low.
"Now where are you guys?" I asked with my voice high.
"Where are you?" he asked, just like he had asked last time.
"Where I was last time, in front of Cindy's room", I answered.
"Come to the parking lot", he ordered and hung the phone, barely before I could have said anything else.It took me only five minutes to reach the parking lot. I searched for Tyrese. He was nowhere to be seen. It
was all a fib, I thought. I called him again, more furious."Where the hell are you!" I yelled, as soon as he picked up the phone.
"Behind you", he said and hung the phone again. I turned back. Tyrese was walking towards me.
"What the hell is going on?" I said, as he drew nigh. He sighed and looked at me pathetically.
"You'll figure out. Just follow me", he ordered and sighed again. He looked at me like I was lost.We walked for a while, until we reached a small office. Tyrese opened the door and we walked in. Cindy was perched on the verge of a grey chair. Mr. Turner was sitting in a chair in front of Cindy. I questioningly snatched a glance of Cindy. She was cracking her knuckles and she seemed vexed. Are they going to suspend us? But why? For having sex? A million thoughts reverberated in my mind before I sat on the chair. I looked at Cindy and then at Mr. Turner. I gulped down a wave of fear.
Mr. Turner took a deep breath and blew it out. Then he opened his mouth and started
"It is the law of nature that death is affiliated with anything that has life. Millions arrived in this globe and millions are to disgorge. But it is an axiomatically acknowledged truth that death is appointed to each. Among those millions are our beloved ones, even us. Death is inevitable", he said and sighed. He looked at me and the tense in his face was dense. The lines on his forehead wrinkles and they got deep. He took a deep breath and started again.
"Your...friends came to me last night...quite late...horrible news was what they bought...they wanted me to convey it to you", he said and looked at Cindy. I gripped the chair forcefully with my sweaty palms. Cindy looked at me through her wet eyes. She was crying. Tyrese stared at me with his tensed face. He was also crying. There had also been some tears in Mr. Turners eyes.
"All of our sympathies are with you", he said and took closed his eyes. A tear dropped from his wrinkled eye duct and sliced his wrinkled check. I took a deep breath, knowing that I was about to get hit by the harshest wave of the ocean."Son, I'm very sorry to tell you that your mother has passed away"
